I just read this on another forum I frequent. Not sure if it's a glitch or PB finally realized they made a huge mistake. If it's the latter I'm not sure I could ever go back to using them again. I did like how their app worked but I've adjusted to using Imgur just fine.

I got an email a couple of days ago that said they would third party host for $20 a year and was about to pay it since my account is still active and all my pics are still there. If they are third party hosting for free that sounds fantastic!

I just looked up Lance's Pac Salt tip mod thread, it was the first that came to mind, and the pics are indeed there. I hope it's not just a glitch.

I just checked the photo of the week contest starting on page one and they do appear to be working. Unfortunately many people were upset and not only moved to a different hosting site but also took all their pics off of photobucket and closed their accounts. For this reason some of the damage is unfortunately permenant. I am glad I just left mine idle until now.

The show your mods thread is full of pics. Look before they disappear. Same with the wharnie Delica thread.

Interesting development.

I blew the Photobucket app off my iPhone when the ransom note came out. I just reinstalled the app to see if Photobucket would host without a strong arm. So far, so good.

I've been unable to make Imgur actually display my photos.

I have a free wordpress blog that I host all of my photos to. It started life as a workout log, but like everything else it became about knives...

It would be reasonable for Photobucket to grandfather in all the old internet photos and charge people for the new services going forward.

Yes, that would have been reasonable had they chosen that path before holding everyone's pics hostage to begin with. I will never do business with them again. Imgur works just fine for me.
Time for another :spyder:!

I don’t agree with what they did but if they make it right then all is good. It was a free service after all.

Man I'm real salty over the crap they pulled, but honestly their embedding is easier/better than any that I've used and I have over a decade of pics on their site.

I too have a free Wordpress blog. I post my photos there. When I want to post one here I merely select it, choose “copy” and paste the URL here as an image. I own my blog so the photos are going nowhere.

If you're trying to use the Imgur app, it'll give you the link code in an improper format to post the pic on a forum so it's viewable in a post. The link can be edited to work fairly easily but you have to remember what needs to be changed each time you post a pic. Instead try accessing your pics through the Imgur website and change the code type to "BBCode". Copy and paste that link into a post and your pic should show correctly. This method should work regardless of the type of device you're on (smartphone, tablet, PC, etc).
