Don’t get me started on this type of backwards thinking.
Ban guns, you can kill with knives, ban knives you can kill with any tools you can get your hands on. What is going on with this world?!?!

Re: New knife law hits london
Hopefully this stupid thinking won’t blow towards the Netherlands. We have pretty relaxed knife laws here.

Surprised the EU hasn't jumped on this bandwagon years ago.polyhexamethyl wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 2:16 pmsame back here in austria, but the news are picking up on knife incidents and some people already are talking about a ban of knives 0_0

Re: New knife law hits london
knock on wood - strangely the knife laws all over europe are different.
i’m not complaining since in my country there’s pretty much everything allowed - only punch daggers and disguised knives are restricted.

I'd tell London's mayor he can stop and frisk...deez nuts. Why do I bet the refugees won't be stopped or frisked very often??

Re: New knife law hits london
haha, there are a couple things!
the problem with this and a lot of other restrictive laws are the media and topic uninformed public combined with any politician (no matter what orientation)
the media picks up something and forces politician to do something specific about this very particular topic - and then untoughtful ridiculous laws get passed - ( statistics say most knife related incidents are involving kitchen knives)
in austria you are forbidden to buy a pump action shotgun, but you’re fine picking up a semiautomatic shotgun because back in the 80ies i think there were pump action related robberies - media picked up the topic and the public forced politicians to do something
there you have it!

Re: New knife law hits london
There is a noticeable tendency to apply new restrictions in the name of "safety", especially here in Europe. I think that politicians could at least put some more effort into it, I mean, this is just plain nonsense:
"No excuses: there is never a reason to carry a knife."
And this is something that should not happen in a civilized country:
These patrols used aggressive stop and frisk procedures on anyone suspected of carrying a knife.

agreed - totally!
if you get stopped by police here in austria you give them a probable cause why you are carrying a knife.
but if you just plain ask them if they ever saw a roll with a zipper did it every time i got stopped by police - usually answered with a smile by the officer
Re: New knife law hits london
I feel like there are infact many reasons to carry a knife..
There is plenty of space here in the colonies for you lot.
That said I’m not sure what knife crime is like over there but if it is indeed as serious as it’s been portrayed then perhaps it’s for the best untill they figure out a better option

Re: New knife law hits london
“Aggressive stop and frisk” sounds a lot like profiling based on looks, which seems like a really bad idea. What does a person who carries a knife look like? How does the mayor feel about bricks? Hammers? Pipe wrenches? Really, I feel very sorry for people in London and sometimes wonder how much longer we have here in the states before things get to that point.
Re: New knife law hits london
Look at how the firearm discussion is going, I’d say your knives are safe for a while.. unless you install a bump stock on your knife...kingston73 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 3:55 pm“Aggressive stop and frisk” sounds a lot like profiling based on looks, which seems like a really bad idea. Re: New knife law hits london
So what is the law on knives exactly in London?
Re: New knife law hits london
I'm glad that I live in an area that has a lot of money behind protecting freedom.
Why don't they just ban kitchen knives? Aren't most of these crimes done with a kitchen knife? The politicians making the rules and the LEO's following the rules probably don't even know what they're looking for.
