I’d love to see a little case that perhaps clipped onto the SM but detachable that was a dedicated extra rods holder.

Particularly if a wider range of rods are released. :)

Since this turned into a wishlist of sorts, I need to ask for a Shaman in M390 flavor. Also, some quality of life improvements on the choil part of the blade that hits your finger as it falls shut from disengaging the lock.

But yeah, M390 Shaman above everything, or maybe even Cru-Wear. Do we have a deal, Mister Glesser? ;)

Big knives in interesting steels!
Maxamet Manix 2 XL!
HAP40 Calypso!
Large Caribbeans!
That Native Chief thing!
K390 Pattada!
I'd have to open my wallet for a k390 pattada. Or make a sprint vanadis 10 pattada. That'd be pretty sweet.
I was just trying to be realistic. Maniago already works with K390, and Sal was talking about ethnic series sprints...

Sharpening choil, even if it's just a small one so your not running your stone across that flat edge that comes on the majority of Spyderco's.
I personally like no sharpening choils. It's easy enough to add one if you want one.
I personally dont like running my sharpening stones across a flat slab of metal. Pm3 has a gap between the heel and that slab thats not sharpened, thats a lot of wasted blade. I personally wouldnt grind or modify the knife to add a choil, you end up doing that when you try to sharpen the whole blade.

Honestly, I can't think of anything I want more of, except more of the same.

Not trying to be clever.

Fact is, the annual catalog, the mid-year supplement, Blade, Amsterdam, and Sal's bombshells have, since I joined this forum, kept my interest strong enough to acquire 5-8 knives a year.

In consequence, I can now display 15 Spydie folders with no repeat of model or steel (thanks, Archangel, for this idea) as evidence of why more of the same is fine by me.

A sprint run or full production run of the "Slysz Swayback"

Also any wharncliffe or sheepsfoot with good handle ergonomics for "reverse/blade edge in use"

M390 and LC200N.

Blades that are thin behind the edge, like the Chaparral and SpydieChef.

I would like to see more Ball Bearing Lock knives. I would like a return to the large steel ball, like the one on the Dodo, or even just the large ceramic ball. Do that on the Manix 2XL.

I would like Spyderco to start grinding a choil at the heel of the blade, as some other manufacturers do, rather than having the sharpened edge go right up to the tang, which not only makes sharpening a pain in the ***, it also looks sloppy.

Do both of those changes and the Manix 2XL would be the perfect knife.

I would like Spyderco to stop with the bewildering assortment of over-expensive collaborative models, the majority of which are froofy, redundant, and needless. Most times all that seems to be different is the style of the handle. They’re almost always liner locks, which puts them right off the table for me. And they never seem to be real workhorses, either. They seem to always be destined to be safe-queens — more about looks than anything else. Hardly ever anything really new anymore, just variations on themes.

Thought of something: another Bolt Action Lock like the Sage 3. This one was unfairly overlooked by many and the smooth action has to be felt to be believed.

Edited to add: and I’m not some genius that sees things others don’t. I myself would have overlooked this one were it not the prize for being selected for the calendar contest years back.

I would like to see items that have skyrocketed on the second hand to return in small batches for people who missed out on the first run or runs. I’ve been only collecting spydercos for a year or so and there’s a few things I missed.

I personally like my knives to funtion better and I'll deal with sharpening as it comes. When I'm cutting something i don't like it getting caught on unsharpened notches in the blade that don't absolutely need to be there. It's one of the things i like best about spyderco knives, that they don't force the idea that we all want super polished, museum grade edges.

I would enjoy this as well. I know it’s a bit unrealistic as Sal has already stated that they have QC issues when natural materials move environments (warpage). However, I do see that an all stainless Kopa was released recently, which, if I can hazard a guess, could be Spyderco’s attempt at easing a maker into doing more embellished versions in the future. This may have already been discussed, but I’ve been away for a while.

Deep carry clips
Yes, I recently snagged a closeout Dice. I love the knife, but it carries bigger than my ZT 0562CF. The super deep carry clip on the 0562 has spoiled me. Some really deep carry clips like the ones on the ZT 0562 or the ones used on Lionsteel knives would be great.
I want to see more slim carry knives, along the lines of the Benchmade 940, 710, and Spyderco Pattada. I really like knives that don't take up a lot of pocket real estate. The slimmer the better.
Agreed. Related to my above comments, the Dice is wide top to bottom. I'm really looking forward to the Brouwer because it will slimmer than the Dice. A knife that small should have a deep carry clip.
More CTS-XHP and less CPM-S30V.
Also yes to this. S30V is more than adequate, but with the Chaparral lightweight in XHP and Kershaw just releasing another run of the link in M390 for $80, I'd like to see XHP or 204P on higher end knives like the upcoming Brouwer.
I’d like to see more from the Calypso familly. Now that it’s resurected, keep the Calypso Jr alive. More Calypso Jr sprints in stainless steels. It’s a timeless model, one of Sal’s most inspired designs IMO.
YES!!! I'd love to see a revamp of the Calypso/Calypso Jr. with minor CQI: Torx Construction, Tip-up wire clip/re-positioned lanyard hole, and jimping on the thumb ramp.
I foolishly sold an original AUS-8 blade, polished micarta handle Calypso JR. Bring back a run of those with M390/204P/20CV blades, screw together construction, and tip up clip. No jimping needed, keep it the smooth gentleman's folder it was, just make it with 2018 premium level materials.
Micarta!
Huge yes to this! Satin finished Micarta doesn't tear up pockets like G10, yet it still provides good grip even when wet. Carbon fiber left at a satin finish does the same. G10 that's been machined down (Kershaw Rexford Injection is a good low price example) has similar characteristics. They all look better than the regular rough textured G10 that's so common on knives too. There are so many Spydies that are only offered with rough texture G10 that I won't even consider because of it. Para 3 and Lil' Native are two big ones that jump to mind. If I got either of those I'd have to lightly sand down the stock handles and ruin the resale value, or spend half the price of the knife (or more) to get custom scales. The Sage 5 is looking pretty good because of this.
Another sprint run of the massively underrated "R." I'm not particularly interested in a skeletonized blade, and can take or leave the skeletonized handle, it's the overall size/ergos/bladeshape I'm after.
Once again, I agree. A friend gave me one of the glass fiber handle R's. It was too slick, but the ergos are far better than the Manix 2 or Para 2 for me. An R with satin Micarta or satin CF handle and a CBBL or compression lock would be amazing.
More knives with less choils.
I like the choils. I bought a Dice, my first Spydie in 4 years, because of the choil. I have large hands (size XL gloves sized) and the choil gives me a full hand grip on a smaller knife that's legal more places. Look at the Drlica and the Chaparral LW: They have near identical blade lengths, and you give up only a quarter inch of cutting length to get a much larger grip on the Chaparral. Plus, the Chaparral eliminates the dead space between the start of the cutting edge and the end of the foremost finger groove on the Delica. The Byrd Meadowlark might be an even better example: It's nearly identical in both blade length and cutting edge length to the Delica, but Meadowlark's finger choil greatly improves the grip in my big mitts.

I'd also like to see Spyderco do the lightweight, relatively lower cost, exotic steel sprints on something other than the Delica. I'd prefer something that's easier to close one handed instead of a back lock. Perhaps a liner lock like the Efficient but with FRN / FRCP handles would keep the cost down.

Another run of the ParaMilitary 2 in CTS-XHP.

Lower cost, lighter weight Lil'Temp 3 in VG10 and FRN.
