Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2018 Report
A slippy version would be awesome. A knife I can legally import into Canada. I’ve always like Spyderco’s Slipit knives. I have plenty of them. I just never thought they would be my only option someday.
Most recently acquired: Military 2, Paramilitary 2 Tanto x2, YoJUMBO, Swayback, Siren, DLC Yojimbo 2, Native Chief, Shaman S90V, Para 3 LW, Ikuchi, UKPK, Smock, SUBVERT, Amalgam, Para 3 CTS-XHP, Kapara, Paramilitary 2 M390

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2018 Report
speaking of importing, I'd be nervous as to how customs here in NZ would treat the Smock, "its got a button on it, must be auto??" - guess in time I'll just have to find out!!
Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2018 Report
Redback Spyder. What a cool name for a great knife. Nice sleek shape, easy to carry, lightweight, edge length in my sweet spot, almost wharncliffe like blade shape, big opening hole, playfull lock, smooth contoured cf.....Man I really wish for a better steel. Sal please make it with some higher end stainless steel, like S110V or 20CV.

Thank you for the report.
My favorite is the Zoomer, looks very sleek and practical. I just don't like the way the handle meets the blade, it looks it can get in the way of cutting.

Re: Spyderco 2018 Production Sample - ClipiTool Rescue
Thanks a lot for putting all the specs of thickness and length of both blade and screwdriver/hook because that's as important as every other measurement in SAK-style knives and tools, as well as weight :spyder:
real attention to detail that must be thanked and given credit for!

Re: Spyderco 2018 Production Sample - Reinhold Rhino
The more I look at this, the more I think it'd make a nice fixed blade too.Mr Blonde wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 2:40 pmAnother customer we’ve seen before is the Reinhold Rhino. I have a weakness for bowie-type designs, and I certainly dig this cool little knife. The cutout in the handle for the opening hole is still ‘deceiving’ for my hand; I keep reaching for a linerlock to close this compression lock folder. I’m sure an evening watching TV opening and closing the Rhino will solve that. The ergos are really good, it fits my hand very well. As a spyderknut, I’m not complaining about the design upgrade to CTS-XHP and the G-10/Carbon Fiber laminate. And….the clip is reversible for lefties! Definitely worth the wait!
Specifications
Overall Length: 15,1 cm / 5.95 inches
Blade Length: 6 cm / 2.35 inches
Blade Thickness: 3.5 mm / 0.138 inches
Weight: 71 grams / 2.5 ounces
Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2018 Report
Upswept blades are cool. With the CF handles and XHP blade steel, the Rhino is a really nice package.
Amalgan, Sabotage, and Smock are also appealing designs in my eyes.

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2018 Report
Actually, this back-to-back video by Eric from IWA in conjunction with SpyderCollector's reports are filling in some gaps rather nicely in knowing about even newer models, their specs and proposed model names.Mushroom wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 7:54 pmI don't mean to highjack the thread by any means, and can edit the post if necessary.
This is a video (not mine) of Eric going over many of the knives shown in this thread, though it's from the IWA Outdoor Classics show in Germany. Just thought some would be interested to see.

The Alistair Phillips is an exceptional design! Sound likes it is being called the "Redback Spyder"!
Very few knife companies can whet the appetite of knife aficionados in terms of the quantity and quality of designs and materials like Spyderco has done ever more so within the past 5 years.

Wouter, thank you very much for a brilliant thread, once again!!
Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2018 Report
After watching the video I like the redback even more! Such a great looking knife. I have a feeling that one will be a big hit. I do wish it was offered in a slightly better steel.
The sabotage looks really nice but might be a bit too big.

Now that I‘ve seen the vid I must say that the Redback is also straight down my alley. Wow.
