Please Sal!

Post by Lancerpt »

I’m about to pull the trigger on a new Chaparral FRN. It’ll be my first Spyderco. Wanted my first spydie to be US made but oh well. Will also be getting a PM2 this year. After handling all models I’m really wishing for a sprint run native 5 with compression lock. Lil Native is just a lil too lil....sorry had to. All the best and appreciate your products Sal.

Have you tried the Shaman?

But Sal, please make a Shaman fixed blade please please please.

Poor Sal :) It's never good enough for us spyderco fans. He releases a new model and the instant response is sprints!, fixed blade version!, other locks!, lil' version!, xl version! You're doing the lords work Sal.

Spyderco is phenomenal that way. Each awesome new knife sprouts ideas for more. Spyderco pleases customers with reckless abandon!

Native 5 with compression lock wouldn't be a sprint run. It would be a new model altogether.

Definitely pick up a Shaman. It blows the PM2 out of the water for me personally.

I'd just point out, they recently removed the liners from the Native 5 G10 as part of CQI. A compression lock would require the liners to be put back in.

Personally I think the backlock is perfect for the knife. It is ambi, gentlemanly, and I think the solid spine looks more elegant, especially on the fluted Ti and fluted CF models. And the linerless lightweight N5 weighs the same as the much smaller linered Lil' Native. But of course different people will have different opinions. It's amazing how many variations Spyderco makes, and yet I'm sure each of us has some wish that some model would just be a little different.

They are going to release a backlock version of the Lil' Native soon, and there's a backlock version of the Manix 2. Neither of those are different models to my understanding (same model #).

I had idea they removed the liners. Wonder if they posted the new specs on this. Also if it affected the price. $145 bucks seems high for a g10 Native when the PM2 starts at $135.
