Product suggestion: wire clip assortment pack

#1

Post by dj moonbat »

A few times now, I've thought how nice it might be to put my Dragonfly's wire clip onto my Chaparral. But then I'd have none for my Dragonfly.

Maybe y'all could sell a pack of wire clips, a couple in each size (dark/chrome in each size). For those of us who have lost or mangled a wire clip, buying such a pack might be easier than getting the right part through customer service. And for those of us who just like changing things from the stock configuration, it would provide options.

This is a great idea! Maybe it would finally include a black DF2 size clip?

I need to order some various wire clips so I'd probably be up for one of the clip packs.

I wish clips and screws were an actual SKU you could just buy from a dealer instead of dealing customer support. Not that they don’t take care of us, but man I rocked a mangled clip for a long time before I caved and talked to Spyderco about it.

Plus the markup on that stuff would be huge!

Wire clips are expensive to make. They are individually formed as opposed to stamping. Creating a set of clips with variety and then add screws could be more expensive that many might think.

I’m in. I’ve got my Dragonfly clip on my Mantra and it makes it a million times better! I’m not sure what the other style is called but if I want to carry my Techno I’ll have to pick one up at some point as the deep carry fold over that it came with gives such a terrible hot spot that I can’t use it. I know Sal just finished saying it costs more than we might think but I honestly think they’d sell enough to those of us that want to switch clips+those of us that perhaps need a replacement but live outside the U.S. so sending in for warranty is more trouble and cost than it’s worth. It can’t be that expensive, heck I asked Benchmade for a replacement clip for my Grip because of retention issues and they sent me 4 different clips with screws for all, no charge, not even shipping...

The deep carry wire clip is my favorite clip. I have purchased a few extra direct from Spyderco, but would totally be in for a pack of these. Love the idea of a 'blueish' one.

With that in mind...... sure wish the LW Manix 2 had a deep carry wire clip option

I'd be all for it.
That said, imho the deep carry wire clip is for me the best production clip on any knife so far.

I agree the deep carry wire clip is my favorite. The stamped clips have ruined my steering wheel on my car. If not wires at least need to start making deep carry stamped clips? Would be nice to have more options.

I must be in the huge minority that do not like the wire clip. I wish I could attach the standard clip to my caly. The standard pm2/3 , manix, etc clip is my favorite of any knife I own. Maybe I am just odd.

Lots of people don't like them. I like them on lighter knives but prefer the hourglass clips on heavy knives. I don't think they clip strong enough for large titanium knives.

A clip from the Spyderco Foundry is deep carry and will hit the flat spot of the FRN. On the gray and orange below, blue has the Sage clip.

I forgot to ask this before: why would you need to put screws in the pack?

Hi Dj,

If we make wire clip sets, I believe there will be requests to replace the screw/barrel bolt that fastens the wire clip.
