More K390?
More K390?
I'm not seeing any K390 on the current road map... How interested would you be in Spyderco adding some more K390 to the catalog?
Re: More K390?
Love it on my urban. Police is tempting but a bit too big for me to get any regular use.
Something in the middle would be much appreciated. Para 3? Caly?

Re: More K390?
Aside from HAP-40, Superblue and S110V my favorite steel for a while has been K390. Carrying my P4 all week and I get such pleasure each time I pull it to cut something. Heck, even just to flick and admire the patina.

Yes please, the Police 4 rocked my world couple of months ago. Awesome steel! How about......a South Fork in K390 with micarta scales and a leather sheath designed by me......
Re: More K390?
I am not a steel nut. Also strongly prefer stainless. If Spyderco would make Native5 sprint with K390, there is a chance that I will buy the knife.

Re: More K390?
I've never used K390, can someone comment on it's toughness? On paper it looks like it may be trading significant toughness for wear resistance, making me question why I would want this over S110V, which in addition to great wear resistance, is very corrosion resistant and has reasonable toughness once the factory bevel has been removed.
I don't mind giving up corrosion resistance if there is significant gains to be had. My limited experience with CPM M4 and HAP40 shows that their are significant gains in toughness to be had over S30V and S110V with edge holding about in the middle of those two - the trade off is a reduction in corrosion resistance, but worth it for some applications. I realize that it is a mistake to make decisions on steels just looking at their composition information alone, which is why I'm asking for some feedback from people that have actually used it.

I have the Urban K390 sprint and like it well enough. Whether or not I'd buy another sprint with K390 depends on the model.

K390 would be perfect for the Shaman.

Hope to see it on the FRN Police 4 but that could be a long ways off.

Re: More K390?
I'd like to see it in a Manix 2 LW so I could do side by side comparison with Maxamet. I honestly can't tell much of a difference (maybe Maxamet holds it's edge slightly longer? Maybe?) but my most used K390 is the Urban and my most used Maxamet is the Manix 2, so I have no good basis for comparison.
I also have a K390 knife that is insanely nice, holds an edge forever and cuts like a dream, but again, that's an unfair comparison, because that's my Smoke Creek.

Re: More K390?
Since we did the Police, might as well do a Rookie sprint. :D

Re: More K390?
Delica or Native 5 LW
The Delica is made in Japan so this should be easy, right?

Re: More K390?
FFG would be awesome IMO, swedge optional, but I'm not picky at this point. Ideally I'm hoping for a Rookie2 rather than a sprint. Definitely K390 :D :spyder:xceptnl wrote:FFG or original grind?Donut wrote:Since we did the Police, might as well do a Rookie sprint. :D
