Re: Show off your latest purchase
My latest of 2018. Why oh why did I wait so long to grab one of these? This may jump up the list as my first request for a classic Spyderco remake in Sprint form. I know Sal and others have stated their opinions about Kraton inserts and their durability, but how elegant would this knife be with a copper or bronze backspacer along with micarta inserts or even some nicely finished wood? The FFG and functional edc blade shape would make this a home run. Honestly, even coming from me, I wouldn't care what blade steel it came out in.
Those of you who own one of these, shame on you for hiding such a terrific secret. Collectors and users alike, if you can get your hands on one of these... DO!

Congratulations, sir! That particular model (and it’s big brother, the C50), are two of my all-time favorite Spyderco designs. I would be beyond excited if Spyderco could remake these. Such a wonderful design!

Re: Show off your latest purchase
Thank you Michael, it really is a great design. The blade of this one was already slightly scratched so I am planning to go ahead and customize it as my own. I will thin the blade profile and crown the spine. If the kraton comes loose or wears too much, i will try my hand at a custom inlay.SpyderNut wrote:Landon, xceptnl wrote:My latest of 2018. I had almost forgot how much I enjoyed sharpening ATS-34 and similar steels. I do plan on trying to get my hands on one of the C50s sometime soon. I think that one will suit my tastes even better.

Finally got my hands on a Hummingbird
I know I am a big proponent of thin, slicey knives vs. the "sharpened prybar" craze that has infected the industry in recent years..... however this Caly with the beefy blade is something all together different. Hybrid, best of both worlds? Too soon to tell, but I know I am going to enjoy finding out. I will likely be carrying the pair of Calys simultaneously to allow for immediate comparisons in grind geometry.

What a buttery smooth, perfect example of what Seki can produce.
