It would be sweet to see the Caly 3 back in regular production...but I’m not sure if that will happen again or not?

I'm thinking the Caly 3 is one of Spyderco's gems for sure. Although, with brilliant merchandising of different steels and handle material's running them on a Sprint run there virtually all sold before they hit the market.

I'll have to get lucky on some up and coming sprint I guess. I missed this one -- I was trusting in being on a waiting list at KC, but then after a long while was told that it wasn't going to happen. Just goes to show that patience isn't always the best policy I guess. The Hap40 was of great interest.

PM sent with some leads. These don't appear to be quite gone from dealer shelves yet, remarkably.

I am shocked that you do not have back-ups for back-up yet :D

I have never handled a caly 3.5. Seems bigger than I would need for EDC. Plus, if I needed the larger blade, I think I would go with something more robust overall, like the shaman.

I can add 1000 of them to my cart, so not sure how many (if any) they actually have in stock. I was just on there earlier today looking at a long discontinued model that they apparently also have 1000 of...lol. Sounds like they need to tie their inventory to their website. Not sure if any who has ordered from them can chime in with their experiences, but I'd call before ordering.

For sure, hoping to see a laminated Superblue sprint to help out the folks who weren't able to get a solid Superblue sprint. The blades are technically different so I think they could do it without breaking the "Sprint runs are one and done" rule. Especially if they use a different color G10. How about a VTOKU sprint in Navy, and then laminated Superblue in Blurple...Superblurple!

Keep these Caly 3 sprints coming! It is a sad day in the Spydie world when my two favorite knives are discontinued sprints (Caly 3 and G10 Worker).

I would like to see a sprint run of this knife in a steel like XHP or S35V and a G10-CF composite handle, like the Chaparral. That would be as close to perfection in an EDC as you can get.

I'm not sure that it would be different enough from the Chap to convince me to buy it. Maybe I need to spend some more time with my Caly's and think about that.

The Chaparral is a great knife, but the handle is a little small. This makes it excellent in the pocket, but the Caly provides an optimal blade and handle size/shape. I have the CF Caly 3 in my pocket right now. I only wish the CF gave a bit more texture to hold on to. It is nearly perfect as is.
I pocket the Chaparral when I know I want a smaller knife.

I have the caly 3 in hap 40 green g10 and the 3.5 in carbon fiber. I was really disappointed by the carbon fiber on the 3.5. It is smooth and plasticy doesn't feel premium to me at all and that really threw me off the caly train, when I got my hands on the g10 caly 3 I was blown away.

Yes, do not underestimate the 3.5. It is so close in size to the Caly 3, with that huge blade in the handle, it’s ridiculous. One of my other favorites.

Yeah, I wish the CF on these was Peel Ply CF. That is the only type of CF I like. Hopefully we will see a Peel Ply CF Sprint for the Caly 3. Maybe paired with VTOKU or laminated Superblue. Or even another Hap40 blade with Peel Ply CF. These knives are so popular I think whatever version you put out there with a decent color G10 (not Pink, Black, Gray, or Purple) or Peel Ply CF paired with Superblue, Hap40, ZDP, would sell like hotcakes. Would also love to see a full salt version with serrated H1 and semi-translucent florescent yellow G10! :)

The Caly 3.5 is .5 times better than the 3. :p Can't wait for the matching green 3.5 with Hap40. :spyder:

3 x 0.5 = 1.5
3 x 1.166666666666666666 = 3.5

So the Caly 3.5 is 1.166666666666666666 times better than the 3. ;) :D
