I have mostly followed your step, my edges is less than 15° per side. Much work thinning it. :(
Fun using knives as such. :D

It helps me limit my spending ;) I think about the work I'll have to put into reprofiling a knife prior to purchasing it. I also know it will drop the resale value by at least 20%.

It's also one of the selling points for Spydercos SE knives for me. They're ground thin enough from the factory, since they're only ground on one side. So no reprofiling on any SE model I pick up.

The real fun is using a chopper with a thinned out edge. It's a blast seeing how thick of a branch you can cut through in a single swing :D

Cool seeing all those 'made to cut' edges!

I do not understand modern thick edge either...

You really need to get bluntcut’s CWF HT-ed knives. Back to thin angles:

Awesome, thanks. I've always liked how steels at high RC's sharpen up!

Vivi,
I've re-watched the video, (yet again) and I see near the end at 13:02, your onscreen text states you thinned the edge using DMT benchstones then finished with a micro bevel on a Sharpmaker at 15 degrees per side.

What was the angle you used for thinning with the DMT diamond stones?

It was free hand so I'm not 100% certain, and I no longer have the knife, but it was probably about 8 degrees per side with a 15 degree microbevel. It was slightly convex, so parts of the edge may have been a little more or less than my estimate.

BTW the old link seems to have gone down so I uploaded it to youtube. I thought this went well with D's Caribbean thread.
