A SOG Spec Elite 2 Auto, it was actually a pretty nice auto, I still have it too but it’s been retired, carried it every day for almost six years until I found Spyderco.

Before I joined this forum, a SAK Picknicker, for a whole lotta years, and before it, a SAK Champion.

Only a very few knives fall into the category of the 707 with me. What it means is that i liked a knife so much, that it made such an impression on me, that i purchased a second one, and left it new in box, stacked in my safe with the year marked on it. One day i will give that stack of boxes to my son and tell him about the evolution of knife collecting i experienced.

An Opinel No. 7 Carbone for me. Carried it for three years until I decided to try a Delica, because it was a pocket knife that featured the same VG10 steel, I'd been digging in my Japanese kitchen knives.

One of my tongue-in-cheek quick tests for a folding knife is still: 'is it better than an Opinel?'! Thick bladed knives fail the test, for me.

(The Delica passed with flying colours, of course!)

Beside a few SAK's and Opinel's, the last knife I carried and used for years was a Böker Plus AK74 (manual without a pocketclip). At one point I decided to get myself a little present for using at work. So the Tenacious came and since then mine Spydie collection has grown extensively. I've got the bug :spyder:
Top 5 Spydies: Para 3, Paramilitary 2, Native 5 Shaman and the Dragonfly 2.
Top 5 knife steels: Cruwear, S110V, S35VN, M4 and 20CV.
My favourite new acquisition of 2019 is the Shaman Micarta Cruwear, it's awesome :) :spyder:

A Schrade Uncle Henry LB8 lockback was my work knife in the early 90's. My first Spyderco was a 1st Gen Endura in the '94-95 time frame. My time with the Spyderco didn't last long because I lost the knife over the side of a ship on my first work tour using it. I didn't buy another one (a Delica) until six or seven years ago.

Mine was a Bucklite, the version with a pocket clip. It wasn't much longer after that that I got a fully serrated Spyderco Police model.

Bench made 940, 720, Cold Steel Voyager, Gerber EZ Out, and before that, traditionals and various back locks, including genuine Bucks and a nice copy. I discovered the Great Spyderco hole (I wish I had way sooner, like the 80's), and that was that, with a bunch of help from the enablers on this forum.
- best wishes, Jazz.
