Just have to hold the knife at a different angle so blade doesn't fall so fast; but w/mine, letting go of switch when blade begins to drop keeps blade from bouncing back out..

What have I got??

There may indeed be some truth to what EVIL D stated in his post about people complaining that it isn't easy to disengage the Ball Bearing Lock. But truthfully that doesn't bother me at all. I would rather know for sure that the lock is going to hold rather than being leery of it failing.

When I carry and use my Dodo model I've never ever had a lack of confidence in that Ball Bearing Lock. And I don't think I would want any other locking system on that folder since I've had it and used it just the way it is.

I've had Axis Lock BM models before and they are good. But I am to the point to where if I have to put 1000% of my confidence on a folder's locking system then I'll be switching to a fixed blade for jobs that I need that kind of assurance.

Thanx 4 comparisons on locks. Have not had difficulty disengaging ball. I just learned via utube that what I have is an early Manix 2 - unless there's a Manix without the 2 - and the original (mine) had unlightened liners and a hollow ground blade - both of which make to a more pleasing heft to the knife, and greater strength to both handle and blade. I love the heft and precision operation.

SELLING lighter versions as an asset, I posit, is perhaps hype to cut costs.
