Any interest in a PM2 with LC200N
Re: Any interest in a PM2 with LC200N
In my opinion it's always worth it to go all way till the end and make it a Salt.
Most often the blade is the easiest thing to clean, the internals are not.

I’m in! Great idea!!ZrowsN1s wrote:How about LC200N, Linerless Backlock, Yellow G-10 versions of the; Para 3, Paramilitary 2, Military, Native 5, and Yojimbo 2? The entire Golden line in Yellow G-10!? Who's with me? :D
Re: Any interest in a PM2 with LC200N
Salt version. But I like LC200N better than H1 by quite a lot, so I'd be unlikely to buy a Salt version in H1.sal wrote:SSSsssooooo....I have a question. I'd vote for a Manix LW in LC200N as my personal choice.
Re: Any interest in a PM2 with LC200N
I'm sure a lot of folks want a full blown "Salt" version. I think if you made any of the above just as "another steel option" you would eventually sell a lot of them. All the folks buying various itenerations of carbon steels because they are easy to sharpen, hold their edge a reasonably long time and like the toughness will find there's a LOT to like w/ LC200N. Of course there won't be any interesting patinas to post....sal wrote:SSSsssooooo....I have a question. When you say you would like to see model ABC with a blade from LC200N. I assume there is a lot of potential buyers for a full Golden portfolio of LC200n sprint runs without Salt status (myself included). BUT, if possible full salt is obviously ideal, production even more so! :spyder:sal wrote:SSSsssooooo....I have a question. When you say you would like to see model ABC with a blade from LC200N. Rust proof full flat ground iconic models made in USA Earth? Potentially the best selling line of knives ever.
Re: Any interest in a PM2 with LC200N
LC200N is an interesting steel, I've enjoyed my limited use of it from the Never Summer Native. But yes, I was thinking LC200N would make excellent PE "Salt" versions of all my favorite Golden Models, that was the reason for the Linerless Lockback suggestion, I figured minimal hardware would make it easier for them to be "Saltified". I figured you could make the lockbar from LC200N, the rest from what ever stainless steel you use on the salts. I would also be interested in SE H1 versions.sal wrote:SSSsssooooo....I have a question. When you say you would like to see model ABC with a blade from LC200N. i'm interested in the 'salted' version of those models.sal wrote:SSSsssooooo....I have a question. When you say you would like to see model ABC with a blade from LC200N. and yes for the lc200n para2 with the yellow g10
i'm also interested with the kitchen line in that steel
Re: Any interest in a PM2 with LC200N
This reminds me a bit of a thread we had discussing whether we would like to see more new models or more sprints of existing models. When it comes to the Salt series, I'm intrigued by some of the designs that are in the works, but I am much more interested in "Salt" sprint versions of existing models I know and love, in particular the Golden line up.

Police 4 in LC200N, anyone? Possibly salt series..pa pa please!
Re: Any interest in a PM2 with LC200N
Turning a model into a "Salt" is far more complicated than changing the blade. Salts are designed to be salts from conception so each part is considered in the design. Many of our models would have to be changed considerably to convert them to Salts.

If that's the case, i'd happily settle for a blade sprint of the golden models sal

Re: Any interest in a PM2 with LC200N
Sal, if the blade, liners and clip were made with LC200N (or a titanium clip), super stainless material was used for the screws and washers, wouldn’t that be a “salt”? For the PM2 specifically, wouldn’t that be all that’s required?
When I say all that’s required, I don’t mean to make it sound easy or cheap. But you’ve spoiled us with all the great options you’ve supply us over the years...so....

I would love full Salt Military, but I can imagine full Salt versions are more difficult to make and expensive too.
In this case I would be more than happy with just the blade change and colour of G10:)

If full Salt means a yellow handle, then I vote no. I've been begging for white or blue digicam on many occasions, but on a super stainless PM2 is where it really belongs. Or a Military. Please? My birthday is coming up! :D

A Salt Military would be interesting. So, too, would a Manix 2 LW or a Manix 2 Back Lock in LC200N.

Re: Any interest in a PM2 with LC200N
I feel a Salt PM2 and/or Military is/are inevitable. The idea pops up in so many threads that if it's not in the works now, it will be soon enough. How long till we see it is another question, but I'd bet a significant amount of money that it will happen someday.
In the meantime though, a super stainless blade like LC200N on either model would be plenty good for me. With the open construction aiding in cleaning and drying, it would probably be more than stainless enough for my uses, even on the boat. And again, white or blue digicam G-10 is my dream for this, so that please or I'll literally cry.

A "salt" PM2? That's like my grail knife. I can't even imagine how fast a completely rust/water proof PM2 would sell out...oh my.

Exactly, that's why I don't understand why the mili/paramili lovers aren't satisfied with the new Caribbean.sal wrote:Turning a model into a "Salt" is far more complicated than changing the blade. Re: Any interest in a PM2 with LC200N
so, reading this thread it seems that with a few exceptions most of us were referring to "Full Salt" (that is 100% rustproof hardware, not only blade) models of our favorites, PM2, Military, etc.sal wrote:SSSsssooooo....I have a question. I am on that boat too! :D
If many models were offered in the Salt version I'd be much, much poorer by now. That is proven by the fact that of my 16 Spydies only one is not a Salt.
