Gray or orange Endura?

#1

Post by embry386 »

I've got a dilemma -- should I buy a gray or an orange Endura? :spyder:

I like both colors very much. I like the subtle understatedness of the gray and the way it blends in and is less flashy and less likely to draw attention, both when in use and when stored in a pocket with a bit of handle poking out. I also like the bright cheerful orange and the way that it'd show up instantly against the ground if I drop it somewhere, and although it's more likely to draw attention I'm inclined to think that the color makes it look less threatening, which is a plus.

Out of the two colors, what's your favorite? Have you noticed any differences in the way people react to your cheerful neon knives versus their reactions to your tactical scarier ones? Is the small bit of orange really that noticeable when sticking out of your pocket?

Gray for EDC, Orange for the woods. I don't think any color would make a knife that size look less threatening, just more noticeable.

The orange is LOUD and even a bit of poking out of a dark pants yells LOOK AT ME!

Having said that, I like it better than the burnt HAP40 orange. Also people comment that it’s ‘fashion statement’ due to the loudness of the color. These are people who knows me & my knife hobby. I don’t have experience yet with general public, as I carry clipless in pocket and mostly use with discretion.

Given your concerns, gray is a better option. You can add bright orange lanyard when going into woods.

I am not a big fan of the grey. I have an orange Delica but I use if as a woods knife and not for regular carry. It is definitely safety orange or hunter orange. It is quite bright.

I chose the grey because I do not want the knife to stand out and the grey is a bit more classy looking as a color, too. I like the orange but only for woods or water.

Gray. I had one and it, and black, are my favorite colors for a Delica. It is a slight greenish gray like the old German RLM02 Color. classy and understated. Woods or rivers call out for orange I think.

Thanks for the advice and discussion everyone, it's been very helpful.

After reading this thread and deliberating about which color would suit my purposes best, I've decided on the gray, with the orange perhaps to follow at some point in the future.

Will probably post pictures once I get it. :spyder:

Good choice. I bought a grey Delica and a grey Endura and think I made the right choice. I like orange, but it can be tiring to look at after a while.
