Show your mods!
Re: Show your mods!
Lighten the load:
I have a Caly 3 and a Caly 3.5, they are great knives. I really like knives made by Moki ..........
but  I find them a bit too heavy in the butt, they want to slip my hand sometimes when changing position. Once, while tying tomatoes with sisal twine Caly slipped and stuck my upper leg. Not cool! Put them aside for a while.
The Calys are pinned so it's not easy to lighten them.
1. Removed the two pins that hold the spring holder, left the lock bar pin.
2. Used 1/8" barrel pins with #2 @ 56 screws.
3. Ground off an "arc" from the spring holder.
It dropped off enough weight to make a difference in the handling.

Beautiful, bro! That is my kind of mod. I love the shape. Maybe my Sage 5 needs that treatment.sAx wrote:

I like this one too, and I usually prefer regular leaf blades. Is it just me, or does it look sort of like an adolescent Stretch? :)Jazz wrote:Beautiful, bro! That is my kind of mod. I love the shape. Maybe my Sage 5 needs that treatment.sAx wrote:

Yeah, it is a lot more organic feeling now. He did a fantastic job. Had him work another knife also, which I'll post pics of another time.farnorthdan wrote:That looks real nice speed, nice blade shape and scales look super comfy, hats off to DigDug.

Re: Show your mods!
Work in progress mod.
Currently playing around with the blade shape. The plan was full wharncliffe but I kind of like how it cuts with a bit of belly left. Once I decide on the blade shape I plan to grind off the spyder hole and hump. It will be very thin and sleek when I'm done.
I gave it a working edge and I've been using it as is. I already like how it cuts much better with the minimal belly. Starting to remind me of a kiradashi vaguely.

Re: Show your mods!
Started working on the spyder hole this morning. Dremel needed a break.....gonna finish it up after lunch.
Re: Show your mods!
Well the rough job is all done. I'll probably smooth things out sometime later this week, but I've got it hair popping sharp as it is. Much more functional for me now.
