Bob Lum tanto, wich style?

I have seen it in:

G-10 black blade plain edge

titanium serrated

titanium plain

Which would you choose, and do you think the black on the blade would wear off around the opening hole after repeated use? Sal?

And is the knife good? liner lock works good? smooth? sturdy? light?

I have been looking forward to the Lum G10 for quite a while now, and my own intention is to get the G10 Tanto with satin blade and plain edge. Cut and paste the following url to see a good scan:

I expect that the black coating will show wear with time -- they always do. The G10 handle will have better traction than the titanium, and the G10 Tanto's steel liner will wear more slowly than the titanium liner on the Ti Tanto.

The one thing going for the Ti Tanto is that it is now out of production, with only a couple thousand ever having been produced = collector's value.

Hi Baszerkawits. IMO all coatings will eventually wear. It is also difficult and expensive to recoat. However, coatings do offer greater protection against corrosion and this particular model was requested by US Military for a more subdued carry piece.

OK, but will you recoat it if one is sent to you? Just like you do the complimentary sharpening?

Example: The black finish is worn around the hole and near the edge. If I send it to you, will you re finish it?

I was just asking because I had this S&W "SWAT" knife with a black blade, and after a month the black finish was wearing off on the spine, 5mm in from the edge, and
around the thumb stud. Do you use a really "high quality" finish that won't wear off as fast? is it thick? thin?

I was just wondering, I mean, If I were you, I probably wouldn't do it. But since you're a nice person, would ya??????

Also, I really like how you decided to make the handle G-10. Maybe you could come out with the satin finish G-10?
