Can anyone identify this small wharny in M4?
I was drooling over the small wharny below the GB2 from a post in the photo pairing thread, but I'd never seen this model before so don't know the name and what to look for to pick one up ASP.
It looks like a GB Air possibly, but the handle seems more rounded and thicker, and I've never seen one in Black G10 or Micarta. Custom scales maybe, or a Sprint run?
The compact size, shape, and M4 Blade are calling to me,... any help to identifying the model would be most appreciated?
thanks,
Joe T

It's a GB Air with aftermarket scales.

Has no pocket clip from factory and was known to have a loose detent, but short of that was a nice piece.

I think Spyderco might consider a Sprint Run using similar grip shape and black material then,....as this really does make it more appealing to my eyes at least.
....kinda funny too,...that I've got to search out an aftermarket scale maker before I will buy the knife!
I love G10 and Micarta, but hate working G10 other than minor beveling of edges because of the nasty dust issue.

Here is the factory configuration Ti Rod
... and I never experienced a "loose detent" with mine.

Thanks,...that looks better to me than the lighter/whiter version,...unless that's a photo issue as it look black.xceptnl wrote:Here is the factory configuration Ti Rod

BTW, that M4 blade is looking very nervous, ....like you're planning to skin a Moose,....it's sweating Bullets! :D

Yes,...and much thicker scales too which I really like. The only thing I'd do on that if I owned it is round off the scale edges more so that the hand feels a smooth transition and no corner shape. But that's a personal preference and what works for you is all that counts.

I like the thicker scales too, much more comfortable to use. While shaping, I was going to round them but stopped here to try it out, and like it.

jpm2...what thickness did you use on that Micarta,...3/16" or 1/4"? Almost looks like 1/4" stock but then the photo is larger in scale.....
Re: Can anyone identify this small wharny in M4?
Not sure if it was 3/16 or 1/4. It was made of small scrap pieces from work and don't have any more of it.
Thickest width of the handle is top of the butt end, about 0.55", and tapers to about 0.48" towards the bottom front.
