At this point, I haven't really taken the plunge, but I have done some reading and watching.
Lots and lots of speciality inlays on several core designs and lots of collectors paying big bucks for same. It's kind of amazing as I don't think Case comes anywhere close to Spyderco in terms of quality, usefulness and innovation, but nevertheless .... there is a substantial Case collector community out there.
Anybody here collect Case ??

When we become the "old-timers", then the Spydies will be the ones to collect. I like the Case chrome-vanadium but not the "surgical steel" they use now. Maybe that's what is being sought after the most? I carried a Case Trapper chrome-vanadium for years. The blade is worn down a bit. Never did like it closing on my fingers tho. So far my Delica has not taken a bite. I wonder what it's waiting for? A vein or an artery?
Hey,
I have about thirty slipjoints, most of them Case. I like their pattern # 06247 large pen knife, its about 4" closed two opposing blades on one backspring. The pattern is currently discontinued, but I have five of them made during the 1970s. To me its kind of like a reminder of what once was, if you know what I mean. I don't have any current production Case knives, probably because I have the older knives, the new ones don't stand up quality wise IMHO. Spyderco knives are real working knives, I have a bunch and use all of them, I couldn't see me "putting one up in a collection". Though I feel they are works of art, function is just as important as form, I need the knife I pull out of my pocket to cut well everytime without fail period, thats why I carry Spyderco Spyderedge knives for EDC. Cheers, Rob
