Help with wall-mounted display case

#1

Post by Edgar »

Hi Folks,

What is the best method to display my spydies in a wall-mounted display case? The case is shallow, front is glass and opens up to the side. I want to be able to remove the knives easily. I was thinking about resting them on pieces of short dowels. Has anyone done this before?

I can post a pic when I find out how!

thanks,

Edgar

Another option is to use a small dowel under the handle only and glue a small rare earth magnet behind the blade hold it in place. Two rare earth magnets could be used, without the dowel if mounting SS handled knives.

A good source for these magnets and mounting accessories is Lee Valley Tools.

I have been thinking about the same thing. I was going to use small brass nails instead of dowels. Or brass screws. I figured I may as well use something to compliment my display rather than hide the holders. The magnets sound really good to use. I hope we get somemore comments on this. I know some of the fellows are putting them in Sears mechanic type drawer boxes that have locks on them. But I would rather display mine on the wall.
