Manix 2 Lightweight: possible fake?

#1

Post by Ales D »

So, i just recived my new cts bd1 manix 2 Lightweight from Amazon [I know, i know.. but living in EU you have to deal with amazon at times guys, buying every single knife paying it double its price it's simply too expensive].

Now, the knife itslef looks very well made, and i can't see any major difference betwheen this one and the oter manix 2 lightweight i own [the s110v .. and i'm 100% sure that one is original].

Point is it came withouth any box: just two platic bags and a leaflet... and i never had that before with Spydercos.

I'm gonna take photos as soon as i can, but in the meantime i'd like to ask if anybody else ever recived an original spydie with no box. Thank you.

I'd add my 2 cents but you already know ;)

The no box thing would bug me regardless of being real or not. I like keeping my boxes.

Did you buy it "from Amazon", or from a third party seller with "fulfillment by Amazon", or from an "Amazon partner" third party seller who shipped it themselves, or second hand from a private seller via Amazon? In that last case, not having a box would not be all that unusual. Otherwise, I'd return it. Spyderco never sends out knives in plastic bags. They always use either a box, a zipper case, or a clear hard plastic clam pack.

It most certainly is!! That's why I stay away from Amazon, though I definitely understand why the OP used them in this case.
I'm hoping you got lucky, but the no box thing is a bit unusual.

I know there is a lot of mud slinging at Amazon.

But, friend of mine just received a PM2 from one of the standard knife shops, where the knife was not brand new. The screws looked less than perfect; someone tried to take the knife apart, and screws looked stripped. Doubtlessly this was a returned knife. The shop replaced it with no questions asked. Just like Amazon does.

I agree that you are better off getting your blades from blade shops. Also better off getting them directly from Amazon, than from Amazon affiliates.

Perhaps because Amazon's business model is complex and confusing.

Heck, I even forgot a couple possible scenarios. One being that Amazon also sells "open box" items that were originally purchased from them, and returned to them, at a hefty discount. The other being that they buy "used" merchandise from customers and sell it as used. Both of those would also be cases in which the lack of a box would be understandable.

The good knife sellers such as Knifeworks.com, knifecenter.com, and others ship overseas and you have a choice of shipping methods and charges.

I know, bought several knifes that way. But unfortuanately you have to pay almost 80% of the knife/s price in taxes and custom duties buying from US.

That being said, here are some photos, i'm sorry for delay but i's been a crazy day at work yesterday.

Looks pretty legit to me. I'm not aware of anyone copying FRN/FRCP molds yet.

Ye, thank you guys, it looked good to me too,but that weird box thing soured me.

Probably they simply ruined the box itself in warehouse to the point they weren't able to use it anymore.. but you know: confidence is good, control is better.

There were reports of fake multi-coloured frn models, but those should be easy to avoid as they were ordered from Amazome.
