Edge-U-Cation

Does Spyderco no longer send out the Edge-U-Cation papers with its knives? My last three Spyderco knives I've purchased came with none. My last three were the G-10 Dragonfly, Para 3 with black G-10 and a Para 3 Digi-Camo.

All recent production knives should include a brochure-style "Product Information Guide," affectionately known in-house as a "PIG." This format is more detailed and polished than the Edge-U-Cation letters that used to be included with most knives. Letters are still used for Sprint Runs and exclusives, and in some cases (like Exclusives) both PIGs and letters are included with a knife. If a knife is made of a special steel (i.e. ZDP-189), it may also have two PIGs--one for the model and one for the steel.

We are still trying to backtrack to do PIGs for older models that did not have them, but it's a slow process--especially with the pace of new models.

I hope this helps.

Stay safe,

Mike

From years ago I kind of miss the small catalogs that used to come with new Spyderco knives. I thought that was a good idea from a marketing and advertising standpoint both. It was in the late 90s/early 2000s I remember them including the small catalogs.

I also thought that the Edge U Cation leaflets were interesting to new Spyderco buyers especially. I'm sure they are a good marketing tool as well. I also miss the old plastic clad steel charts that Spyderco usually had at the knife shows. I haven't seen one of those in a while but I haven't been to a knife show in a while either. We just don't have many of them here in KC, MO USA Earth for some reason
