Re: Somebody Stole My Maxamet Native
I've also had this happen a number of times when having a delivery come to my work place; USPS scans that it's been delivered and I don't get it... usually by the 2nd day it arrives because they delivered it to the wrong business address and it is picked up and returned to be delivered at the right address.
At home deliveries, most times I've been able to be there when USPS scans it as delivered; if it isn't the delivery folk usually pass by my place and then turn around to do the other side of the street in which case I'll flag 'em down to ask about it.
I empathize with the anxiety of paying for something and not getting it when USPS indicates that it has arrived; we probably put too much faith/trust in that entity?!?! :spyder:

Re: Somebody Stole My $*&%# Maxamet Native
This happens to me all the time. My house isn't visible from the parking lot like most of the houses in my community, so even if delivery people know where my house is, they still have to park and walk down a sidewalk to get to my house. Food delivery folks usually have to call me for directions once they're in the parking lot. I guess the mail carriers sometimes don't feel like hunting for my house or walking down the sidewalk and they'll mark packages as delivered without actually, you know, delivering them. :rolleyes:Spydergirl88 wrote:Sorry this happened to you. As someone who used to work for usps...many many times, postal workers will scan a package as delivered and not actually deliver it bc they are too lazy to get out of the vehicle/trying to leave work early and dont feel like taking extra time to deliver packages...only to deliver it the very next day. Not saying this happened with your situation but it does happen like this in my hometown.
Lately I've been getting the "we attempted to deliver package, house/front door not accessible, notice was left" type messages, just to switch things up and keep me on my toes, I guess. :p No notice is ever left, of course, and there's no reason my house or front door wouldn't be accessible, except that one has to walk down a sidewalk to access it. Packages usually show up the next business day. If they don't, I call my local post office. & Only once have I had to escalate and file a complaint through usps.com, which got me immediate results, but that was a different type of situation.
ZrowsN1s, I hope your Maxamet Native is either delivered without incident or your claim is resolved quickly to get your your money back, whichever is less of a hassle.
Re: Somebody Stole My Maxamet Native
*Update* To those who thought I over reacted, you were right... kind of. So 20 hours after I've been notified the package was delivered and "left at front door of residence", an important expensive package that I am on the hook for because I requested no signature... I hear the sound of the mail man at the box. So I go outside and say hey, did you deliver a package here yesterday? He says no not me, I wasn't here. I tell him I think I had a package stolen and start to explain what happened, my neighbor is there and starts talking to me about package thefts and he walks off while I'm talking to her. 15 minutes later I hear a very faint *thud* at the door, no knock, no bell. I run to the door and look, there is the package with no one around, I walk out to the street and look down the street to see the very mail man I was just talking to making a very hasty retreat from my property, I call out to him, he pretends to not hear me and gets in his truck. WTF USPS? Never again. Never Again.
I was able to cancel the replacement I ordered before it shipped from GP, and it was easy enough to notify cred card/police website that package was delivered. Everything worked out. But I'm angry at USPS. They soured what was supposed to be a happy day yesterday, and I spent nearly 24 hours thinking I had been ripped off because of their "just kidding" deliveries. UPS from now on.

Re: Somebody Stole My Maxamet Native
Lol...after reading the OP, I had to laugh a little. I knew the package would show up the next day. This happens literally all the time. I've had it happen with UPS probably 5 times, and USPS, maybe 3 times over the years..
With that said, USPS is on my #*&$ list right now as well. I sent a $700 watch in for repair, and it was to be delivered two weeks ago. It's gone. I filed a claim today online with USPS. That was another story...oh and don't bother calling the USPS number, you absolutely can not talk to a real human being. End rant.

Re: Somebody Stole My Maxamet Native
They are just regular people doing a regular job. Have you ever had a bad day at work? Have you ever made a mistake? Has anybody ever overreacted to either one of these?
There is a list of people in your life who you should be on a first name basis with. Your doctor, your lawyer, your mechanic, your bartender, your dentist, your kids teachers and for me also my librarian, the lady at my post office and my UPS guy. Considering where I live I NEED the USPS and UPS working with me and not against me. My UPS guy has my phone number since my driveway is loooooong, steep and winding and can be really intense in the winter. He will sometimes call on bad weather days to see how bad I need my package even though I have already told him that if it looks too bad that he can just keep going and try again the next day. You can be as mad as you want at the USPS or your mailperson but that isn't gonna do much to keep this from happening again. Learning your mailperson's name, asking them about their day and throwing a smile at them very well might. It works for me.

Re: Somebody Stole My Maxamet Native
The wife and I leave cookies out for our delivery folks at Christmas. Haven't had a package go missing yet. One of the delivery drivers will randomly take a package back to the post office, rather than leave it on our porch, but she's probably just trying to be safe.

I once had a delivery from BHQ show up a few days late. Seems USPS decided the best route from Utah to Alabama is via Puerto Rico.
Re: Somebody Stole My Maxamet Native
I've had this happen a few times with USPS as well. I'll tell myself to wait about a week and 10 times out of 10 it shows up the next day. I don't trust there online tracking information for as far as you can throw a rock. Very very rarely does something bad happen to a package in my experience. I'm glad you got your Native, now where are the pics or it didn't happen!

Gave my postman a Jester a few years back...been gifting him Cracker Barrel gift cards ever since...never had a delivery screw-up...it's a good investment, plus he's a stand up guy who I enjoy giving a Christmas gift out to each year.

Re: Somebody Stole My Maxamet Native
When I was purchasing a lot(by my standards), I preferred to pick up my packages at the PO. I had already made arrangements to do this for every package I had.
This was for two reasons though. First was to be sure that my packages weren't lost in delivery. Second was so my wife didn't know I had again bought a new knife. :D

Re: Somebody Stole My Maxamet Native
USPS packages show delivered a day early at least half the time at my house and the other half they indicate undeliverable. Then they show up the next day. Definitely annoying but part of life it seems.
Re: Somebody Stole My Maxamet Native
^this right here. First thing I did was call, a frustrating loop of no help, with no real people to turn to. And then their web site, which reassured me that they had indeed left the package at my front door as requested, also a dead end of no help. And then the mail carrier who tossed it at my door and ran this morning after I asked him about it. I wasn't rude to him, I wasn't accusatory, when he dropped off my mail I asked if he dropped a package off yesterday because it had been reported delivered and I thought it may have been stolen, he pleaded ignorance. Now does he come back 15 minutes later and knock on the door? He knows I'm home, we just spoke. Does he knock and say, hey I found your package, I must have forgot to grab it yesterday, and forgot again this morning when I delivered your mail, sorry my mistake. Nope. Tosses it at the door and speedwalks down to his truck and takes off. If the usps online reporting system wasn't total crap, I'd file a complaint online. The better solution is to no longer ship with them. Never had a problem with UPS, have never had a knife delivered without some problem from usps.jalcon wrote:oh and don't bother calling the USPS number, you absolutely can not talk to a real human being. :) Anyways I am done talking about it. This story had a happy ending, and now I am going to start playing with my new knife, and move on :)

Glad you got your knife. Such a nice piece :)
Re: Somebody Stole My Maxamet Native
Happy to hear you got a positive(-ish) resolution ZrowsN1s!
I've had good luck with USPS where I live, but am lucky to have really nice postman who I've gotten to know a bit. About the worst thing that's happened is that one time while he was on vacation a couple of packages didn't turn up, but showed as delivered online... Just as I was starting to fret, I realized they were on my neighbor's front porch.

I should also take a minute to give a shout out to BHQ and to GP knives both of who's customer service through out this whole ordeal was outstanding. I highly recommend both shops. BHQ offered to replace it for free if it didn't turn up in 7 days.

If you ever leave these on your porch for very long and I know about it, the USPS will screw up again.ZrowsN1s wrote:
