I've never understood low ride clips. To me its spending money to make my knife less functional...makes it tougher to pull out of my pocket / waistband. Have you tried carrying something like a Caly 3.5 IWB? Much tougher to pull out than a Military or Manix XL.

I've traveled all across the USA, everywhere from "towns" with populations of 50-100 to the White House, and I've never been somewhere where anyone cares about a pocket clip showing. Besides, if you're following the laws and not waving around your knife like an idiot, what's it matter if the sight of your clipped knife does bother someone? I mean I get not wanting to draw unnecessary attention and all, but it seems like such a minuscule difference that only other knife nerds are going to notice. I just don't see a situation where the difference of half an inch or less of visible knife handle is ever going to matter.

That being said if you like the clips because you like them, more power to you. Not trying to rain on your parade, promise :D

But don't you just hate it when your knife falls out when doing your ninja flying somersault kicks? :D
Cartwheels are an issue ;)
*It's actually pretty secure in the pocket and taking the clip off also helps it not wear a hole in the pocket. I carry a Native 5 and a dragonfly clipped to my right and left pockets in plain view, I even have a little lanyard for the Dfly, I prefer my SD blade be completely hidden for many reasons, and even a deep carry clip doesn't completely hide a knife (I don't know about you, but I know what the pocket clip means when I see one, I may not know which knife you have, but I know you have 'a' knife)
....That said I would like it very much if Spyderco made a few deep carry clips for their most popular models and sold them via the online store. They do serve a purpose, and more carry options is always good.

Okay, I find them highly unattractive and goofy looking - not neat at all. Sort of silly. Maybe they are okay, since they make me laugh. If I'm feeling down, I could pull out (with some difficulty) my way down deep super duper pocket clip knife that's invisible to all but me, and just have a good chuckle. :D :D

Seriously, I don't hate them, but I find them unattractive.

Really, to my other point, you're not hiding all that clip, so what's the point? Is it more comfortable? Do people think it's a big, thick pen? Serious question.

What does it matter? Is my question. I, personally, would never say that what you carry is goofy or looks funny because it's what you like. Low ride, factory or no clip at all. Ford vs Chevy, revolver vs semi, plain edge vs serrated, .45 vs 9mm, spinning vs baitcaster, you get the picture. It's all just personal preference and nothing more than that.

Just speaking for myself it was a comfort issue. Like I said in my original post I didn't carry my PM2 because every time that I sat down the d@mn thing was poking me in the hip. All the rest of my knives have factory clips. I don't care to hide anything. I live in a state where I could carry a bazooka down the street and nobody would flinch.

I was checking out their clips on etsy yesterday. They have a lot of nice designs. Kind of hard to decide between a few of them lol
Here's one of my PM2s with the Chevron clip.[attachment=0]image.jpeg
The link or pic isn't showing, but that clip is actually one of the 2 front runners I liked the most. I'll be grabbing a new clip for my incoming m390 pm2 and that may be the one.
That's weird, both pics are showing up for me  Keep in mind that each clip is made to order and it can take several weeks.
Strangely enough, I can see your pm2 pic now, but it's in place of where your yojimbo 2 should be in the quoted text? Lol computers ammirite? But I do really like that, and I didn't know he would shorten up any of the designs and that would be perfect since that was the only complaint I had with the chevron design, I want a shorter clip than stock. Awesome. Thanks for the info!
You also might want check out MXGGear too, they have a really nice shorter deep carry clip, just put one on my Para3 and it's perfect.

Thank you. They are who I bought my deep carry clip from. I bought the shorter clip as well and it works like a charm.

I carried a knife in my back pocket for roughly 50 years before discovering Spyderco. Never lost one, never had one snag on something and damage that thing or the knife, so I saw no reason to change that. No matter if it's a deep ride wire clip or standard rise flat steel clip, it gets taken off any Spyderco I'm going to carry.

I don't really like deep carry. I like to be able to grab onto my knife and easily pull it out.

I have never had any trouble easily pulling the Spyderco wire clip out. I usually put the tip of my middle finger in the dip, and pull straight out. For simplicity and the deeper carry, I tend to prefer the wire clip, but I don't mind the spoon clip at all, for which I find the screws provide a good pinch point to grip the knife to pull it out.

Deep carry is great for office spaces; I also find it to be more ergonomic for my hand on the Delica. The bulge of the clip is further away and does not create the hotspot.

I found this interesting as I've been exclusively carrying my Sage 5 for a number of months and just within the last couple days swapped back to a Delica 4. While I don't have really strong feelings either way, I did come to the realization that I prefer the ride of the D4 to the deeper ride of the S5. I just find it easier to pull from the pocket, especially when sitting. It's very convenient to be able to grab that bit of handle sticking out. Surely for me, there's nothing wrong with the deep carry clips I just found that I give a little edge to the slightly higher carry (not really high like some knives).

I agree completely. I've always kinda shook my head at vid's and such that comment on the "discreet" clips. Whether they're black, deep carry whatever, they are obvious to anyone looking

Sorry if I offended anyone. You can make fun of my balding head if you want. :)

... and thanks for the replies about comfort. That does make sense. I just like some handle to grab on to.

No offense taken. It's hard to read tone through typed messages. As for the clips, I personally like both!
