Caly3.5 is the great knife, no doubts about this. Almost the same happened with me, but with Caly3.
In the past I strongly prefer 3.5" bladed knives. I carried Persian since 2006. When Caly3.5 came out, it kicked out Caly3 out of my pocket and I carried Caly3.5 for years. Last fall my job moved me from manufacturing to the office and to avoid scaring people I switched back from Caly3.5 to Caly3. Only then I realized how I love Caly3. This knife is amazing. It is too bad that Spyderco discontinue this model. Fortunately for me I have a few. :) Plus sprint is coming. Hopefully I will be able to get a couple.
Weirdly I actually tried the Caly 3 before the 3.5 and it just didn't click. Sold it and didn't have one at all for a year or two before I picked up my 3.5.
If they don't all go too fast I am planning on picking up one of the sprints, just to give it another shot.

This is a good reading, especially as you often tried to convince me over the years to replace my Caly3 with Caly3.5 :D .
I still like shape and handling of Caly3 but in the meantime for EDC I prefer pocket knives with lesser weight, therefore my new favorites are Manix2 lightweight or UKPK lightweight. If a Caly3 lightweight would be available it would be my first choice.

Peter,
I always liked aesthetics of Caly3 more than Caly3.5. But we cannot deny convenience of an extra 1/2" blade, when you need it. Caly3.5 will make simple task of cutting an apple on halves much easier to compare with Caly3.
Weight of the knife (knives actually) is not a big concern for me. Which knives of lesser weight you are currently carrying? Last time I heard about Walker, is it lighter than Caly?

I think that they will go fast. Sprint run=collector value. Hap40 will attract steelnuts. Plus some people will want just Caly. I am expecting this sprint go fast.
