D'Allara Rescue Questions

How large and hefty is this model actually? Same size, in the pocket/hand, as an Endura, or more like the new Assist models?

How does it carry?

I like the wire clip but it took a little getting used to. The blade opens like its on roller bearings, so very smooth. Lock is rock solid and the serrated blade cuts great. Ergos are fantastic. Handle is very aggresively textured and clipping the knife back to the pocket feels like it would tear the denim up in a hurry. An emory board can smooth the texture directly under the clip to solve this. Sal said the next batch would be smooth directly under the clip from the factory. I guess they'll alter the mold or something.

In the closed position this knife is ridiculously huge. Forget about reaching into your pocket past this monster. An ideal knife for the that choose to clip Spydies in their rear pockets.

I really can't compare it to an Endura. Totally different knife. You should try to handle one before you buy, you'll see what I mean.

Kaizer. thanks for the kind words. It started out as a blog, but sort of got out of hand. With my new daily travel to and from work (1hr) and my notebook, I can actually find the time to update it regularly.Which is always the tough part of having a website. I'm also nearing my storage limit ;-)

This thing is a hand-full! I'm still up in the air over the wire clip, but like 4077th said, it opens as smooth as glass and locks up tight as a bank vault. I too find the checkering very aggresive and somewhat abrasive on the pocket, but once the stiffness starts to leave the wire clip it becomes easier to take in and out of the pocket...This model is a true workhorse!

I know how rough these wire clips can be. I have a first generation Salsa that suffers from the same type of clip. NAtive III, later Ti Salsa all have great wire clips though. I will try to hold out for the improved version.

I'm carrying the "improved" version today. The aggression under the clip is gone.

It's a fairly large tool. easiest to open.

Well Ive seen the WTC Rescue (my lovely fiance purchased 2), and Ive seen the Assit (I got one), and the assist is suprisingly quite a huge piece.
I never imagined a blade size of this length when I saw pics online, very very and one more time....very nice rescue tool.

Hope this one stays around for a long time.

Thanks a lot saltydog, all these compliments make it more than worthwhile. I'm currently working on a review and pics of my office-edc (Kiwi, Dodo, etc..) and I still have to get around to my beloved Salsa's, which are great travel knives BTW. I am hoping to have some new stuff on the site in the next couple of weeks.
