My little Saturday project
My little Saturday project
I got my Para 3 in and decided I would customize it a little bit! It's a bit on the smaller side and I tend to gravitate towards larger folders, so we'll see after a few days of carrying, if I'm going to keep it or not. Regardless, it's a sweet blade and Spyderco's CQI never ceases to amaze me! This one is a perfect example of a folder!
Allen Putman makes some really nice scales
Right hand clip side is the stepped side of the pivot. Very crucial when you go to adjust pivot tension, as the stepped side is different on different models.
All assembled with perfect fit and finish!

Re: My little Saturday project
I tempted to pick up another one, just to put a set of those scales on there.
91Bravo,
Did you hit any snags during disassembly/assembly?

Re: My little Saturday project
No snags at all, unless the pivot is slathered with red lok-tite. Luckily, mine had just the right amount to hold the screw, but still allow for it to be broken loose. Make sure you use lots of downward pressure with your driver, so it doesn't slip out and gouge your screws.StuntZombie wrote:I tempted to pick up another one, just to put a set of those scales on there.

Wow that looks great! My Para3 never finds it's way into my pocket but scales like that would give it new life... might have to do the same!

Re: My little Saturday project
Awesome! Funny we both picked the same colors! I think I'll stick with the honey pattern so I can use a deep carry clip. The grooved ones have the cutout for the factory clip and I don't really care for it!
Re: My little Saturday project
Oh yeah, post some pics up when you get them on!

Re: My little Saturday project
Not sure exactly why, but I reach for the Sage5 or PM2 over it every time. I like how stout the Para3 feels, and prefer the thumb ramp and flat spine to the leaf shape of the Sage, but something about the Sage thinness and wire clip and weight and I dunno... Sage5 wins right now. And the PM2 just makes the all those differences more justified in comparison. However, someday I will likely wake up and the Para3 will be "the one" :)OakTree wrote:Why?abbazaba wrote:My Para3 never finds it's way into my pocket

Dude, that looks great. I always love seeing any knife dissembled to see what makes them tick.
