Re: Manix2 Backlock!
I expect they've addressed that issue of clip screws in 'bare' G10. Years ago one of my Renegades was transmogrified into a clipless variant, after a run-in with an afghan.
I also expect the re-intro to be a solid seller; a broad market of backlock fans will appreciate this tank.
The backlock original Manix is (was) an absolute favorite for tough tasks; the word brute comes to mind, but it is really too refined for that. Glad to see this new version coming out, to supplant the old ones on hand. For reasons both sentimental and preservational, after models are discontinued I use them conservatively. Except for perhaps a beater or two.
Interesting mention of a 'finer' peel-plyG10 for fabric friendliness/pants pocket preservation. I find this Manix too large and heavy for dress slacks anyway, and a Caly or Chap is better for that milieu. That being said, I did have a bitsy G10 Dragonfly (with wire clip!) manage to chew up pocket edge of some 501s after a week. So bring on the new PP G10.
(also newsy for S30V going to Japan!)
thanks for this one, Eric and Sal

An LC200N Manix backlock would be a marvel.

Re: Manix2 Backlock!
I never cottoned to the current Manix 2 lock. I, and a lot of other people, have been asking for a return of the back lock Manix. I will be buying one when they hit the stores. I hope it is S30V and not BD1.

I really like this idea and hope to see a proper sprint run in a steel that sends everyone running for their knife sellers. :) Cruwear maybe?

It's great to see some linerless G10 models! Curious about the weight...

Re: Manix2 Backlock!
Looks awesome. I hope the self close is stronger than the old large Manix I got rid of for precisely that reason. Locked up strong, but just didn't pull that big blade back in very strongly. Anyway, long live the back lock.
- best wishes, Jazz.

It is pretty light, not so light as to feel toyish though. I felt it was just right :)Brock O Lee wrote:It's great to see some linerless G10 models! Curious about the weight...

Re: Manix2 Backlock!
It appears to say S30V on the blade. Can anyone confirm that?
Also, Eric said it should be out in March or April but so far not a whiff or mention from KC or any other shops. Is it still on track?

Nice to see another Manix 2 variant. :)
I'll probably skip this one--the CBBL is just about perfect for me.

Re: Manix2 Backlock!
The thing that excites me most about this knife is the linerless G10. The thing I can't decide on is whether or not I like the lock back idea versus the CBBL. We know it's possible for Spyderco to produce a linerless BBL/CBBL because they did just that with the Dodo.
I guess either way I'm happy.

I'm in the exact same boat. I couldn't be more excited for the lack of liners but the lock is kind of a let down. I'd have been fine with a 3mm blade too. I'll still probably buy one though because I think the back lock may allow me to tweak the handle even more to my liking, whereas the CBBL has a large tang and limited what I could do with it. I'm still determined to make myself a knife with a Yojombo 2 handled and a Manix 2 blade and this may be my opportunity.

Re: Manix2 Backlock!
This is great news! I am a huge fan of the original Manix and the Mini-Manix, i'm lucky to have 2 CE Mini's, 1 PE Mini, and one of each of the full size. When the Manix 2 came out I bought one and was very disappointed....Just did not come close to originals quality of feel, build quality or capability. Thanks Eric and Sal!!
Re: Manix2 Backlock!
I was very surprised when the original Manix was discontinued. When that knife came out it was drawing comparisons to CRK Sebenzas. Lots of praise for it all over various forums.
