Hi everyone, I introduce myself

Post by garret »

The first thing is to apologize for my English, I use the google translator, and it does not give more.
My name is Ivan and I'm from Spain, and after reading a lot of time, I've finally decided to be part of this great family!
For now I only have a cricket, a lil matriarch and a civilian, but in time I hope to be able to add some more.
Around here are not very well known and very expensive, but do not leave anyone indifferent I assure you! Are incredible tools, of an outstanding quality in every way. Especially the civilian. And I take advantage of my presentation to ask for help and ask a question about it, since I have not been able to find information. My civi was bought second hand at a reputable store, but my question is that it has a single coating but it does not have holes to lose weight like lil matriarch. Is it fake? It cuts a lot, and finishes look good, but I think that better than here I will not respond anywhere else. There are some photos. Forgive me for the quality, they are mobile.
Greetings to all, and thanks for letting me join the Spyderco family.

Welcome!

I don't know the Civilian model well enough to judge its authenticity, but someone will be along soon to help you out, I'm sure.

Welcome to the fourm! Just checked my Civilian and it does have three round holes drilled out on the side that has the liner, hopes this helps.

Welcome! Looks like you have caught our disease. You cannot own only one Spyderco. They multiply.

The truth is that the spyderedge has an excellent cut. The one that impressed me most was the cricket, it seems a lie that such an innocent thing is so terrible. The day I bought him a long time ago, a friend laughed at his appearance, as I said in the presentation, here in Spain these knives are not very well known, said a saw would never cut like a smooth edge, and committed the stupid of Pass the blade through your forearm, without pressure only the weight of the cricket. A few seconds later a thread of blood began to flow out of his arm and he no longer laughed so much.
I have a lot of affection for my cricket haha

This is what I mean.
Mia has no holes, it's a one-piece lining. But looking for the forum, I read that this was a recent update. Could it be that my civilian is older and therefore does not have the liner drilled?
I hope someone answers my question
Thank you very much to everyone for consistency.
a greeting!!

Welcome to the forum Ivan/Garrett! Enjoy great discussions and Spyderco knives. :)

Have you ever seen the Spyderco Navaja? It was designed by a man named Ed Schempp and was based on the traditional Spanish Navaja folder knife with the ratcheting "caraca" sound. Here is a picture of it. It is now discontinued, though:

I had no idea of this!
A ratchet Spyderco. Here in Spain that type of knife never presages anything good, when you hear crack crack crack your body shakes, but with this spy the wallet will also Haha.
I have never seen any, I will look for something on the forum.

Thanks for the discovery.

wow!!I can not believe i talk to you :D Thank you very much for comment !!
Congratulations on your excellent work, it is incredible to see how they manage to optimize and constantly improve something as "simple" as a blade. I have a question for you, do you think it possible to open an official distributor someday in Europe?
