The Three Spydies

#1

Post by MichaelScott »

Admittedly, it's kind of like the tale of the Three Bears: papa bear, momma bear and baby bear. I have had a number of Spyderco knives pass through my hands over the years, but things being as they are now, I have only three folders — large (Gayle Bradley 2), medium (Delica 4) and small (Dragonfly 2). For my tastes and uses these are what I consider the essential Spyderco folders.

I'm wondering about what "final three" Spyderco folders others would choose and why.

My tastes are similar to yours, my three would be:

1. Gayle Bradley 1 or Paramilitary 2 (M4 cf)
2. Hap40 Delica
3. Dragonfly salt se
-Spencer

Rotation:
Gayle Bradley 2 | Mantra 1 | Watu | Chaparral 1 | Dragonfly 2 Salt SE

I don't think I could narrow it down to only 3. Here goes...

PM2 Cruwear
Mantra
Manbug HAP40

Glad this is only hypothetical!

I feel it would be tough to choose only 3, but basing my choices for their actual utility as a tool; I would pick -

• Serrated Ladybug Hawkbill - With me everyday as a secondary blade already and legal in/out of Boston.
• Kahr Arms Delica - Has a good pointy tip and full size Delica handle, but the blade is still short enough to carry in Boston "legally."
• PM2 - I like the size and reach of the blade. Has a very sharp tip and comfortable handle. Also very "flickable" and "fun" to play with, when its not being used as a knife.

(Tough choice between the PM2 and HAP40 Stretch - I like the stretch for very similar reasons as the PM2)

Also based my choices on what I own, carry, and use most.

Impossible! Knee jerk, alcohol fueled, sleep deprived answer:

Slysz Bowie - perfection
Manix2 - utility
Chaparral - practicality

2 - to suffer that form
3 - of deprivation

In a civilized state...

Manix 2 XL
Pm2 CF M4
Dragonfly 2 British Racing Green

In an uncivilized world...
Szabohawk: Utility and self defense

Manix 2 XL: Utility and self defense

Dragonfly 2 G10: strong backlock allows for heavy slicing, despite its size. Can also be trusted as a last-ditch self-defense tool.

Pff... This is too hard...
1 - Southard
2 - Chaparral 3
3 - GB1

I think...
A tiger has claws.
A wolf has teeth.
An eagle has talons.
We, have Spyderco.
