Civilian vs slash resistant shirt
Slash resistant shirt seen here. For the action jump to about 2:50

There was a fellow standing by me demonstrating one of these products, he was wearing one and slashing his chest with a knife to no effect. I offered my pocket carry for the day which happened to be our friend C12 The Civilian.
He offered up his arm. I'm impressed with both products as he should have been cut much worse.

Time for some CQI, the shirt not the knife. :D
Re: Civilian vs slash resistant shirt
The sight of the Civilian and Matriarch alone scares me. Cut resistant clothing or not, there's no way I'd let that blade touch me!
I'd say the knife and shirt are both pretty impressive.

He WANTED to be slashed by a Civilian?
I'm almost relieved he hadn't been told the shirt was bullet-proof.

Re: Civilian vs slash resistant shirt
That is pretty good, the shirt I mean. I'm really not surprised that the civilian cut the shirt though. That is one nasty knife.
Re: Civilian vs slash resistant shirt
I'm not surprised at the Civilian. I am more surprised that there is somebody out there who could even look at that blade and willingly let someone slash them with it. I don't care what you're wearing. It flips me out to even think about.
Do right always. It will give you satisfaction in life.

Re: Civilian vs slash resistant shirt
When many of my friends ask why I carry such an "expensive" knife (PM2 most of the time) I try to explain, usually to no avail that cutting performance has much to do with the edge, but thats only one part of the whole mix that makes the knife cut.
The razor blade may have been "sharper," and thinner than the civilian, and should have cut better, but the Civilian cut much, much better. Not surprising, givin that the first time I saw a picture of a civilian it cut me from out of the computer screen it's so scary.

That's pretty cool. I could see it (the shirt) perfect for correctional officers and what-not.
Personally...my goal is to get to the point in life where I can wear ringmail and a helmet and people think it's "edgy" and "Like, soooo GQ". :)

Is this for real? He cut himself with your knife? This is kind of like letting a shark bite you with a "shark suit" on.zenheretic wrote:Slash resistant shirt seen here. For the action jump to about 2:50

can't tell if that's brass balls or fool's courage.

I totally misread the OP. :o
Um...I wouldn't volunteer any part of my body near a Civilian.

Hmm, shallow superficial incision/lac 40% of circumference of forearm, suggests it was not too brisk or he would likely have cut deeply into the extensor group. How could he not be aware of the cut, and disengage?

The blade was so sharp no one knew he was cut for a few seconds, then a red line appeared, then started dripping.nicked.onaut wrote:Hmm, shallow superficial incision/lac 40% of circumference of forearm, suggests it was not too brisk or he would likely have cut deeply into the extensor group. Crazy fool!! ;-)
Seriously just look at the Civilian. No way I'd do that.

Re: Civilian vs slash resistant shirt
I guess that's why they call them "Slash resistant" instead of "slash-proof".
