Yes, the Opus is beautiful. It's a liner lock, so not for me, but it's gorgeous and looks really useful.

Can someone help me understand why the ATR 2 is 60 dollars more than a para 2 with the exact same materials?

I was very very excited about this model. Might have to just go for the police 4

The Japanese made Spydercos are generally overpriced specially the G-10 models. I wish they had made all four of the following at the U.S. plant and the price would've been 25% less.
  1. A.T.R.2 CPM-S30V Black G-10 (Japan)
  2. Chinook4 CPM-S30V Black G-10 (Japan)
  3. D’Allara3 CPM-S30V Black G-10 (Japan)
  4. Opus CPM-S30V Black G-10 (Japan)
A couple of weeks ago, Sal mentioned that due to availability of K390 the Police4 is delayed somewhat.

I'm definitely in for a Jazzilica and Rhino (both because they will be great for my purposes and because of the forum connection). Also the Caly 3 HAP40 sprint - favorite color, great steel, exceptional price. Probably the Meerkat too, but it is kind of expensive. Will probably get the Police 4 in K390. I'm interested in the ATR and Chinook, but both are pretty pricey so will likely hold off for awhile. Para 3 at some point too.

Overall excellent catalog with a wonderful variety of knives. I'm happy to see some of these 'classics' from before I was into knives coming back into the catalog. Good work, Spyderco!

A question about the D`Allara with G10 seen in the new catalog:

Is that the final blade shape and finish, or, is that basically an image of the prototype? I ask because it is obviously a little different, being full flat ground, than the original drop point version.

Also, look at that new ATR, everyone. That thing is amazing! I really like that swedge like structure in the top edge and point. What excellent design!

Also, the Opus looks to me like a cool fusion between a Spyderco Police and an Endura, as far as the blade and shape goes.

MANBUG SALT finally! This is a serious must have....

Also on that list for me are:
HAP40 Meerkat
S110v UKPK
Reinhold Rhino

Probably a few others, but those are the main ones...

Hello Taz-
That catalog is a very big file to download. You can run it through Adobe Acrobat or something like that and reduce the file size substantially. I compressed it at work using a program called Bluebeam and the file was reduced to 25% of its previous size without any loss in graphic quality.

I preordered the Lil' Lum, Lil' Nilakka, HAP40 Meerkat and Caly, and the Raffir Noble Chaparral. Gonna be a big year for small knives.

I didn't notice an official reply to this. I'm curious as well. S30V is a fine steel but something new (to me) would be cool.

So, do we know?

Let's begin Jon's Foaming At The Mouth with Excitement list:

1- Sprint run HAP40 Meerkat!?....Yes indeed
2- Full serrated PM2!!!!?....Utterly superb, must have.
3. Para 3 (PM3)- Definitely maybe.
4. Lil Nilakka still looking good.
5. Chap Raffir Noble- My wallet whimpers but I whisper "Shh....Just let it happen" :D
6. EuroEdge- Definite MUST have for me. Love polished G10, love dagger shapes- SOLD
7. Black Karahawk- Oooh...Really ups the game of this model
8. Q-Ball- YAY!....Wharnie goodness with a ceramic ball
9. ATR2- Oh yes. Will look good next to my original
10. Chinook 4- Another Oh yes.
11. WHARNIE DELICA- SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
12. Police 4 looking good too.
Warhammer 40000 is- basically- Lord Of The Rings on a cocktail of every drug known to man and genuine lunar dust, stuck in a blender with Alien, Mechwarrior, Dune, Starship Troopers, Fahrenheit 451 and Star Wars, bathed in blood, turned up to eleventy billion, set on fire, and catapulted off into space screaming "WAAAGH!" and waving a chainsaw sword- without the happy ending.

1. Why is the Police 4 using K390?!
2. Maxamet Manix/Native sounds like it might be worth a try.
3. The Ouroboros looks incredibly unique.
4. The shape of the Q Ball reminds me of the original Mini Manix, the swollen handle had a feel in hand that I don't think anything else has quite replicated. Something fatter and a little longer might scratch that itch perfectly. And of course I always love to see more Wharncliffes. A longer/fatter Yojimbo would probably do the job too, though I should add that "personally" I like the tactility of the ceramic ball. Something about the simplicity and feeling of connectedness with the mechanism.
5. I still love the look of the Pingo and the Firefly.
6. If anyone has any doubts, the Santoku has an amazingly thin edge and it's an great value if you want a good slicer. I cut my Romaine lettuce just holding it in the air above the cutting board (your sharpening skills may vary, but the blade geometry makes a big difference).
