Diving back into life with a big (to me) purchase

#1

Post by death-to-yancey »

Hey guys, it's been awhile since I've been around. I went (and still dealing with) a bad break up from my fiance of 4 years. I haven't felt very social in person or online since it happened, but I feel like a month of solitude is enough and it's time to rejoin society before isolation gets too comfortable. And what better way to feel better than to buy a new knife, especially one you've wanted since you laid eyes on it? I finally pulled the trigger on a new Domino from KW, I grabbed the blue weave. It's the one I've wanted and they have a nice price that one so it worked out great. It's a huge purchase for me, but I figured with everything I've been going through I might as well treat myself. I've been in love with this knife since I first saw it and to me it's one of the best looking knives out there. I'll post some pics and write a few words about it once I get it. It's good to be back in the mix.

Good to see you posting again DTY! Sorry to hear about your relationship woes! It's a hard thing to go through...I know firsthand.

Enjoy that new Domino! You picked a nice one!

Thank you sir! I've loved and lost and it's never easy, but there's always a new knife to buy! The lady problems on the other hand, I'll live without lol.

Thank you! And you're definitely right, I'm finally starting relearn who I am after years of changing bits and pieces of myself to please her, after awhile bits and pieces add up until you're left not even knowing yourself anymore. Feels good to be me again. Plus, I no longer have to ask permission to buy any knife I want! Lol

Glad to see you back!

And quote Conan's dad in the movie "Nothing you can trust in this life- not men, not women, not beasts- but this: (holding up the blade) THIS you can trust" :)
Warhammer 40000 is- basically- Lord Of The Rings on a cocktail of every drug known to man and genuine lunar dust, stuck in a blender with Alien, Mechwarrior, Dune, Starship Troopers, Fahrenheit 451 and Star Wars, bathed in blood, turned up to eleventy billion, set on fire, and catapulted off into space screaming "WAAAGH!" and waving a chainsaw sword- without the happy ending.

Oh man, perfect choice! And I feel ya my friend, but there really is no better place to set the rest of the world aside than this. When I need a distraction from something (heartbreak included), geeking out about knives with this crew never fails!

Thanks everybody for the welcome back! Hopefully the Domino ships out today, I have a tracking number but it hasn't updated yet. I think it's time to finally order a sharpmaker while I'm at it. And might as well grab an endura honestly. Oh, and maybe..I better put the breaks on lol. Definitely grabbing a SM though this week though. My collection is starting to be taken over by spyderco's and my main sharpener is a standard lansky kit. It quickly becomes a pain sharpening multiple ffg blades with that thing.

Welcome back mate! :)

Here are a few reasons why you’re better off with a knife than a woman. ;)

1. Your knife won’t mind if you can’t remember the exact date you bought it.
2. Your knife won’t mind if you play with it when you're drunk.
3. Your knife won’t mind how many other knives you play with.
4. Your knife won’t mind if you buy a new knife.
5. Your knife won’t mind if you don’t like it anymore.

And the list goes on and on!

Thank you, and you do the same! It's rough investing that much time and that much of yourself in someone and it still not work out. But that's just how life goes sometimes. There a lesson in everything, sometimes it just takes a little digging and soul searching to uncover what exactly it is.

For sure. True/lasting happiness and positive energy can only come from within. I'm finally realizing that all the people who preach this were right all along!

...not to mention the knife won't cut as deep, take as much flesh, hurt as bad, and take as long to heal.
