Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places
Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places
Hi all, Just thought I'd throw this out. Found a deal on Ebay I couldn't pass up. I don't know the seller though with Paypal backing thought it worth the risk. New Spyderco Foundry for sale with 6 left at $128.75 shipped to USA. The seller appears to have good feedback and this price is $40 below KC sale price. As always buyer beware and I won't have first hand knowledge until I get the knife and that's in about 2 weeks per his shipping notice.

Has been that way for a long time. Gone are the days of $75 Barongs, Kukhris, and G10 Persians.bh49 wrote:The same here. Very disapointed with Sierra selection.

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places
When I ordered the Rubicon, I cringed. What do I need with another expensive knife I probably won't use? In the immortal words of Dana Perino and Chris Stirewalt, I'll tell you what. This is the nicest knife I've ever bought. I wanted one when they were twice the price.
My first post on this forum was critical of so many knives being slab sided, flat G10, carbon fiber or FRN. The Rubicon has rounded, smooth, highly polished and beautiful carbon fiber scales. And I'm not a fan of flip knives, but on this one it seems right.
After all this time one would think that I would have a better idea what size knife I am buying. I thought the Rubicon would be a big folder like my Starmate. Wrong. With a 3-inch blade, it is perfectly mid-sized and elegant. The swedge the hollow grind, everything about this discontinued item satisfies my taste.
Its successor, the Rubicon 2, has flat, unpolished CF scales and lacks the bright orange nubby back spacer and pivot ring. The serpentine clip is also missing, yet the Rubicon 2 costs a few dollars more.
Ensconced in a padded pouch, it would make a wonderful gift, but this is one I may not be able to give away. My fellow deplorables, if you have ever had a tingling feeling for a Rubicon, I implore you to fulfill that yearning, now. http://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-R ... ife--23874
I have no connection to any knife retailer. I'm just really excited about this.

Glad to hear Mac. The Rubicon has the best spyderco flipper action I have ever owned. Great size and love those scales. This beauty will likely be sought after years from now because of its flashy unique design.

I would nab one of those Rubi's if they had a cutout for your finger to get to the lock.

That is something that has bugged me on other knives such as my Schempp Bowie and Gayle Bradley 2,Flipping Addict wrote:I would nab one of those Rubi's if they had a cutout for your finger to get to the lock.
but the Rubicon sent to me is easy to close.

That is my hope now....really like it but wish the handle was about 1/2 inch or so longer...the point gets me right in the heel of my. palm...besides that it feels great in hand, the contours of the scales are perfect. Right up there with the Mamba as far as being just a gorgeous piece of functional art.abbazaba wrote:Glad to hear Mac. The Rubicon has the best spyderco flipper action I have ever owned. And as stated above, at 199 it's cheaper than the Rubicon 2.... which was designed to bring the cost of this down to a more reasonable price point....

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places
That is a great picture. And yes, the pointed butt is noticeable.
It's a little early but here is my New Year's Resolution.
Mad Mac, it's a Spyderco. Toughen up.
Do you need a safe space little boy?
Do you want to have a cry in?
Do you need a therapy dog?
Do you need psychological counseling?
Don't anyone take this personally. I'm as guilty as any of you for complaining about some little feature or another. But I did this to my ten year old grandson this weekend. He complained that the new SUV was hard for him to get into (compared to the van they had). So after I gave him the riot act above he smiled and said, "No, I just want a step." (He would take the therapy dog, too.)
Good night and get ready for Monday.
