All this "blurple" nonsense..

Been carrying my blurple Mili the past few days. Love the knife and the scales.
Since all of my other folders are tip up, I decided to carry the Mili in my left pocket such that the blade rests against the seam. Still draw with my right hand. I got the idea from a guy on youtube doing this with the Mili. Anyone else carry like this? Besides safe proofing against opening in pocket it also has the benefit of reminding me how to draw the knife since I'm so used to tip up. The downside is that it's slower to draw since I'm reaching across my body.

I tend to carry my tip down knives in my Right Rear pocket and draw them by pinching the exposed bit above the pocket clip and letting the knife rotate down into my hand after I've pulled it out of the pocket.

Back on topic, I love my blurple/indigo PM2. It easily gets the most pocket time of all my Spydercos. My CRK Small Inkosi has been getting more pocket time lately for places I don't like carrying a larger more aggressive looking knife, like at work. Really want to see how the PM3 turns out (Crossing fingers for a S110V version of that too!).

God that blur on the blade finish would really bother me and I would definitely return it. It looks like some machine rubbed on the blade at the wrong spot. I doubt a buffing compound is gonna take that away and even if it does, it's not gonna have a even satin finish.

When I am buying a knife that costs $100+, I expect near perfect fit and finish. I have bought several knives and returned them because of such imperfections. Now when I am buying a knife on Amazon, I just order two or three of the same knives, choose the best one and return the others. Usually Spydercos are really good with fit and finish, especially on the blade. Most of them don't have a single scratch on them. The FRN handles can have somewhat inconsistent finish on the edges but they don't bother me too much.

I honestly cannot see any defect in the picture, and certainly nothing worth returning the knife over. The entire design concept of Spyderco knives is function over form. Many people say they don't like Spydies because they are ugly until they actually use a Spyderco for its designed purpose; to cut.
A buffing mark on the blade of a tool isnt hardly something to lose sleep over nor is it something I would consult God about.

Sorry but if I am paying $100+ for a knife, I don't think it's absurd to expect a blade to have an even finish.

That's your opinion. I certainly wouldn't be shelling out hundreds of dollars on multiple Spydercos if I only wanted a functional blade and nothing else. Aesthetics is a huge factor in any high-value knives. Many enjoy the look of their Spydercos and their whole "ugly" design is its own uniqueness. One PM 2 would be enough to do most cutting tasks for 99% of the people here. Yet a lot of people own several Spydercos and sometiems the same Spyderco knives in different colors.

You know, I was looking at a bottle of that old indigo ink we used to use in grade school and it is a similar color for sure. It is a dark blue with a hint of purple. I noticed that one of my indigo blue ball point pens was also a similar color. It is very, very close to Persian Indigo in color.

The definition of Indigo is the shade between blue and purple, but even within that range there are infinite shades of indigo.

Honesty I haven't bought one due to the color description. It sounds a bit like what happens with heartburn and hard liquor at 3am :p.

I can't remember where I saw it (reddit?) but someone scanned the color and the hex corresponded to a color named Valhalla, which is the manliest of color names.

I haven't bought any blurple stuff yet, but it's really because all my money has gone for things higher on my list. A long time lover of "earth tones" and shunner of bright primary colors in my knives, I now note that when I photograph a pile of my knives, you can hardly see them. The only colorful things I have are a blue Persistence, blue annodized fluted Millie, and a couple of burnt orange HAP40's, which are really earth tones... so I'm looking forward some day to jazzing up my collection with a couple of blurple and other colorful knives.

In the long run I'll probably replace the scales on mine but like you almost everything I own is black so it's a nice change. It's a bold color but it could be a worse shade. It'll probably tone down a bit once it gets dirty.
