What lock is next for the Sage series?

Which lock do you think, or have you heard rumored, will be next up in the Sage series? Will Sage 6 be a Spyderco lock, a historically significant lock, or even no lock? After all the Brits would probably love to have a Slipit Sage! Imagine what BRG fibreglas weave would look like, or perhaps BRG anodized aluminium? :D

Mike read, the designer of the pits folder came up with a new lock design. I think it's called the window lock, pie lock or something like that. It would be a pretty radical choice for Spyderco.

I still have hopes for some Hawkes design.. Or the lock i don't remember the name of, but you pull the blade forward to unlock.

That one is the Neely lock.

Haven't heard any credible rumors. Personally I'd like to see any of these: Crawford lock, Paul lock, button lock.

Unfortunately the nature of those type locks is that they need room for the locking block above the blade pivot and for the blade to clear the lock when closed... both BB locks will probably have to be tall in the handle like the 3.

I bet that the Hawk lock could be implemented on the same pin used for an internal stop pin, that could be pretty cool! Come to think of it, I saw a video of a Southard custom that must have been done that way...

How about the phantom lock, a la meerkat? Could be a good excuse for an FRN Sage? We also have the power lock, although that one is similar in operation to a back lock and doesn't really afford any advantages on a knife of this size.

Yeah I know, the ink isn't even dry on the mid-year catalog and here I am speculating on Sage 6. But they hit this one out of the park, so how can I *not* be excited to know what's coming next?!?

Has Taichung ever done an FRN handle before? I'd think that the phantom lock scales could be made in G10 anyway... though if the newest Chaparral is going to be FRN, and previous Chaps have been Taichung that implies they can, or will be able to do FRN.

I'm not proficient in the knife lock and I'm not loner knowledgeable regarding Benchmade, so my suggestion here, well, I might bumble it a bit.

Back in the day I had a Benchmade Auto that when the blade was deployed you could repress the actuator button and unlock the knife. It was not an axis lock, I remember that. It'd be kind of neat to have a button lock.....but, I believe the handle would have to be re-worked in order to do it, and it would no longer be a Sage.

I would be on board with a button lock like that of the Hogue/Elishewitz EX01 in a future Sage. My favorite part of the Hogue/Elishewitz button lock is the minimal steel bolster/liner, keeping the knife light weight while still incredibly strong. Also the action is amazingly smooth, I think due to the lack of any washers in the pivot. The blade is in direct contact with the steel bolsters.
Ergos and blade shape are not my style on the EX01 so I would love to see a Sage with all the cool features a button lock like this has to offer!

Would that be FRN Sages? I hope not as i feel that although FRN is brilliant material as such it would be out of place on a Sage series knife to be honest.
