Summer Holiday!

#1

Post by Ted »

Tomorrow morning I'll be driving to the mountains for a 3 week summer holiday camping vacation - yoo hoo - see picture for a view from the campsite

Of course the biggest dilemmea when packing is - what knives/stuff to take...

At the moment I've narrowed it down to the following:

Spydie Lil Temp

Spydie Rescue Jr

Chris Reeve Sebenza

Fallkniven F1 (see pic)

Rhodanien (small drop point slip-joint) (see pic)

EKA campknife (see pic)

Sounds a bit much, but I can't leave home for 3 weeks with at least two Spydies.

The EKA is a great food prep/camp kitchen knife.

The Rhodanien is a sheeple friendly slip joint, great for making sandwiches and opening that bottle of wine.

The Sebenza is also hard to leave home, and why not toss a sturdy fixed blade (F1) in the car...

Next to that there's also a Leatherman Wave, Leatherman Crunch and some flashlights: SureFire G2, Arc AAA, MiniMag+Opalec NewBeam mod... Oh, and a Peter Atwood Pry-Baby and Sliver Gripper Tweezers...

Next to the usual stack of paracord, small compass, Garmin GPS eTrex Vista, Canon S330 digital camera

(Activities will be mainly sitting in front of the tent, enjoying the scenery, entertaining our 8 months old kid, reading a book and drinking wine)

Am I taking to much stuff with me?

Ted

have a great time! I couldn't have chosen a better set of knives/tools.

I'm planning a camping trip with my son whilst he's on holiday from school. I won't be taking as many knives, travelling on a motorcycle is a bit restrictive! As long as I have a good folder that I can use for gutting rabbits (Impala) and a fixed blade for heavier jobs (Perrin) with my Leatherman Wave I'll be happy!

Regards Ken

I kept staring at that scene waiting for Julie Andrews to swing into view and start singing.

Enjoy

Have a great time Ted I am so envious. Lost my summer holidays as they were all booked by other guys I work with. Nice selection there. Like the look of the EKA, and I hear the Fallkniven are great FB's. Think you have your baases covered. What about magnesium fire starter to go with matches and a lighter??? Take Care and make sure to post pics.
