PM3, any new?

#1

Post by josemfuente »

Hi folks,

I have not seen any word on PM3 in a while. Do we know anything about it? ETA?

I am expectant about the definitive blade and handle lengths. I wanna see how the tip is designed as well. I would like a stronger tip than the PM2.

I know that I am dreaming awake when I am asking for a stouter and shorter blade instead of an slicer.

See you!

Hi JoseMFuente,

The new model is in-the-works in the Golden factory. I don't think we'll make the blade thicker than the current Para model.

Thank you sir! I really feel honoured!

I am strongly looking forward about having the knife in my hands anyway.

Thanks, once more!

The Manix 2 and Native 5 have thicker grinds than the PARA 2 and Military.

I'm guessing that means "working out production/yield kinks" and/or "producing our initial stock to send to dealers". I'm hoping it's more the latter. :D

This is the best thing I've heard all day. I'm wondering if this smaller PM2 might have a chance at knocking the Delica out of my "very best EDC knife" slot. Thanks, Sal, for the update!

This is good news indeed. :D I'm curious what the overall length will be on the "PM3." The PM2's overall length is 8.281" (210 mm). I'm hoping the PM3 will be more in the 7" OAL range.

Also, have we heard any updates on a new name for this design?

The Parabat / Paratrooper. The Paramilitary refers to its origins from the Military. This one can refer to its Paramilitary origins.

I was just comparing my Sage 5 with my PM2. A little spine work on a Sage 5 and I bet you'd be pretty close to the "PM3". Could be yours today...

Funny, when my Sage5 arrived yesterday, I compared it to the PM2 in my pocket to see what David Lowry was talking about lock-wise. Your comparison brought me up short.

Although the PM2 was one of my first Spydies, it took me several years to get over its blade shape, my preference being a leaf (and so my collection of Sages, Manixes, Natives etc.). When I masked the Sage5's spine as you suggested, I smiled.

It seems I have come to really like the PM2's blade shape (in addition to all the other things there are to like about it) in two years of regular carry.

If the PM3 is going to be a Sage5 (my now nearly perfect knife, for its size) with a flattened spine, I'm going to be an even happier camper.
