Black on Black PM2....fake?

#1

Post by DrtyHarry »

I think this is fake...looking at the edge of the blade and the stamp that is parallel to the blade grind. Anyone else think this is fake??

Hard to say because the pics aren't very sharp when you zoom in. Aside from the blade steel script that you mention (that is oriented different than mine) the outer edges of the cutout on the clip side scale look too sharp. Also the lanyard tube on my all black PM2 is black. The tube in the pic kind of looks silver. Again hard to tell. Regardless I wouldn't take a chance on that knife.

I'm not...no way. A buddy of mine sent me a message asking me if I thought it was real. I didn't see that little notch on the base of the blade, and the printing runs parallel to the blade grind....when all my PM2s have the stamp a bit of to a slant.

Also concerned about the sharp edge on the G10 at the lock cutout.

I told him to not bother...but again, he keeps checking on eBay and Amazon in hopes of saving $10. Some don't feel spending an extra $10 for the piece of mind of KNOWING it's legit isn't worth it. Oh well...don't want to say that they deserve to get stiffed but, eh..

The back side of the blade is also missing a stamp...

Looks like a fake to me. The steel liners and lanyard tube are not painted on a legit Black/Black PM2.

Fake fake fake.

The blade markings are all wrong, and it is completely missing Eric's maker's mark in the reverse side.

The liner shouldn't be black either.

The curve of the Spyder-hump over the hole isn't right either.

yeah, the edge grind runs off at the heel rather than ending cleanly just short of the ricasso and the edges of the scales are rolled/blended much more than the real thing.

Super fake. How is this even being considered? Friends don't let friends buy clones.

Eric's mark is there. You can see it one of the pics but it's hidden by the scale when the blade is open.

Now that I'm viewing this on my PC it looks even more fake than when viewed on my phone. Among all the other issues mentioned, the outside edges of the scales have more radius than they should have.

Yes but not always on purpose.

Is the Roc or Dog Tag the type of knives that are normally faked? I bought both of these on Amazon recently. Ugh, Ill stick with BHQ and KC from now on.

Thanks

And it all ready reached $96. He doesn't state if it's genuine or not. However, where it asks you to enter the "brand"...it says Spyderco. Not sure if that's enough to be covered under eBay or PayPal protection policies. It's clearly misleading...and how "those who know pick Spyderco"...
