I guess I should add that I had zero issues with removing the clip screws during my mod. My issues were with removing the T8 body screws and how strongly set they were in the frame - enough that my Torx bit chewed right through the points of the "star" on one of them (with a Wiha hex shaft Torx bit BTW). I'm not seeing many folks taking them fully apart as I did, and to those folks thinking to remove scales for dye/swap jobs were my comments directed.

I'm sorry to hear folks are stripping their clip screws as well. Mine came out quite easily.

Mine came this afternoon. Perfect examples of the PM2. I snagged 2 because, as they say..... 2 is 1!

Well, hiccup on mine. My tracking said out for delivery this morning, I went by the PO at lunch time and it wasn't in my PO Box at that time. I figured I'd wait.

This afternoon, it says it was delivered and signed for by someone that I have no idea who it is. >.<

I plan to go down there during lunch tomorrow and pray for the best. It doesn't help that if the person that signs for it decides to keep it, I won't be able to replace it. =\

*edit* It says delivered to a person at the address, that makes me think there was a mix up on the tracking numbers.

I had the same message on my tracking and it ended up in my mailbox so yours is probably sitting there waiting for its new owner right now. :D

I guess I will likely be the first casualty. Received shipping notice, tracking stated delivered, received a Wiha screwdriver... !!! At first I thought it was a joke. Just hoping they can get this squared away. To those of you who actually received a knife, Enjoy!

Cheers, Radioactive
seems like everyone on the forum is supposed to have gotten the memo that you know every trick in the book and bite their tongue instead of offer what they think are helpful suggestions, that or risk slightly snide replies.

Dunno? ;)

Also looks like your mods have gotten plenty of admiration, as well as the (seemingly offensive) advise responses, so I'm not sure why you want to take your ball and play somewhere else... I for one, am always interested in seeing what the rest of you are doing with your Spydies I'm also interested in hearing how the mods are done and what techniques you all use to get your results, so I really hope that we all keep the pics *and* the "pro-tips" coming!

BTW Radioactive, I love your scales, but not so much the back-spacer. And thanks for the warning about the frame screws! It seems like the torx fasteners from Golden have very slightly wider openings than the Asian hardware (at least on my three recent production PM2s), so that ups the ante when trying to remove stubborn ones without damaging the bit and/or screw head.

My clip screws were very tight, but came out clean, I reinstalled with a touch of blue loctite on each tip, which has worked well for me on other clips.

That sucks. Something like that happened to me. Ordered an Endura from Amazon. Opened the box and pulled out a 5 dollar kitchen knife. Way worse with an exclusive though.

I was just reading all this screw talk before finally getting my box and opening it up, and I was scratching my head because I had never had a problem with stubborn screws or my Husky bit set, and was even contemplating posting a little praise for them. But sure enough, I go to do a routine clip position switch, and I now have a thoroughly stripped screw! Thankfully only one, because they sure were in there tight. Harrrumph! I've never had to deal with this before. How do I get this screw out now? It seems too tiny to use any of the methods I'd consider in my automotive endeavors. And I assume getting a replacement is as easy as sending a kindly worded email?

That mess aside, I love the G10. Just what I wanted. Mechanically it is a tad stiff, but smooth and centered so I am pleased. Can't wait to carry it...but I may have to.
To get that screw out use a Dremel and carefully cut a straight line into the screw and then use a flat head to turn it out. Stress the carefully you don't want to cut into the g10 or your hand! Good luck.

Got both of mine. One is perfectly centered with a perfect grind and almost will fall completely closed when the lock is depressed. This one is going in the safe.

Second one will be a user. This one falls closed perfect but is just a tad off center and the grind isn't quite perfect (I'm nitpicking).

I'm not holding back at all with this sprint. I plan to use it. I'm going to use it for a solid month. Put everything else away except my ladybug and use this bad boy. I'm excited for the patina to grow and the scales to show some usage and some dirt.

I'm rally excited for this one. My goal is to get the collection down to 10 or under pieces and these will definitely stay.

Ryno wrote:This is my first (and second) Paramilitary and Golden model. My impression:
1. PM2 is bigger than it looks. Can't imagine how big a military is in hand.
2. Blade spine is thicker than I anticipated.
3. Pivot is smooth as butter
4. Knife is really well designed.

I did notice that there are obvious assembly marks. If this is common, it begs the question: how would the factory be able to tell if a knife you sent in had been disassembled, thus voiding the warranty?
The military is large. But it's a weird one. It carries really nice. I would say it carries no larger than a PM2.

Good to know. Maybe I'll be tempted by a military.

One more here where the clip screws were incredibly tight and hard to remove without stripping. Also, my pivot was ridiculously tight as well and needed about 1/8 of a turn to get the blade loose enough to where I could swing it closed with one hand -- which to me is a must as it's the #1 usability advantage of the compression lock over other locks. Adjusting the pivot screw was also incredibly difficult.

Now everything is just about perfect, though! Action is very smooth and luckily the lockup still has no play even after loosening the pivot just a hair.

I noticed in that one factory tour video posted recently that one of the assembly guys was using a motorized screwdriver. I can't say that I blame them when putting that many knives together, but I wonder if those powered drivers have a torque setting that could be reduced just a bit. Overtightened / slightly stripped screws are really the only complaint I have ever had with the quality control on my Golden-made knives.

Got mine today. Saweet! Been wanting this knife forever. :D

It is really nice but not a perfect specimen. It is a little rough around the lanyard tube. I am not a collector so I can deal with it but was a little surprised. I kind of wish they wouldn't flare the lanyard tube. My Blurple Para2 doesn't have a flared tube and I can't tell at all while using it. I have seen a few Spydies with this issue. Unless I am missing something it appears as though flaring the tube causes more harm than good. This thing is going straight into my pocket and getting put right to use so no big deal but just thought that I would mention it.

The action, detent, lockup and blade centering are all perfect. Mine had no locktite on the clip screws. I don't think that mine got the robotic sharpening but the bevels are very, very good and it came screaming sharp.

Thanks Spyderco and BHQ for making this happen!
