Sal,

when is the tentative release date for the Yojimbo. I understand that spyderco was working some problems relating to the lock strength.

Dear Eric and all other aspiring Yojimbo owners:

The Yojimbo began the production process in early March. The original plan was that the process would take about six weeks; however, the subcontractor responsible for manufacturing and milling the G-10 allegedly did not mill it to spec. Since the lock strength of the Yojimbo relies partly on its nested-liner design, the fit of the liners must be perfect. When this issue is resolved, the knife will be released. Unfortunately, I don't know when that will be.

Thanks for your continued patience. Believe me, I know how you feel...

Stay safe,

Hey Michael

Have you got any news for us on the progress of your modified DODO?

I just got my dodo in my paws about 2 days ago and shes a sharp lill sucker.

This blade would be nice n light for a fistload, would love to see what you come up with mod wise.

Thanx

Page 26 of the current issue (July 2004) of Blade magazine shows a blue Yojimbo. It is also featured on the index page.

A few weeks after I saw the Dodo in Blade, it got released to the general public. Hopefully, the Yojimbo will follow the same suit.

The July/August issue of American Handgunner has an article on Mike Snody, who made the original Ronin and Yojimbo prototypes, mentions Spyderco and, of course, has nice things to say about Mike Janich.

Sal;
Will the Ronin be available at the Blade show in Atlanta? How about the Spyderco Butterfly knife?

satori - Not sure about the Yojimbo, but it sounds like there's a good chance the SpyderFly will be available at Blade.

Sal posted on BladeForums that the SpyderFly began shipping today (5.14.2004):

Any news on a release date for the Yojimbo?

Not too worried... been waiting since... what was it? Fall of 2002? *grin*

Thanks,

I spoke to Sal at the Blade Show and he said that Yojimbos will begin production on 21 June. Typically, that means produce ships 6-8 weeks after that.

I hope this helps.
