Price is not a very good measure of "quality". Perceived "quality" is a very subjective quantity. The Caspian Salt, riding in my lunch bag is a very high quality and low maintenance tool in my opinion but only cost about 40 dollars 5 or so years ago. The D'fly salt on my keychain is a beast of a little cutter and is of equal "quality". Opinels are delightful and are of high quality to me also given the price. It seems to me "quality" is better defined as how materials are treated when creating the whole, and how well the whole lasts
Blade materials are just a grab bag of what will work best for the application at a given price point. There are really no better or worse blade materials in general, each has their place.

The majority of your knives seems to be at the $100-$299 price range.
What place does 420J2 have? Crappy steel is crappy steel.

What you're wrong about it, I think, is oddly taking the attitude that you have nothing to learn here and only want to demand your own way. Your "very own knife company"....umm, really? Do you not realize you're talking to some real Spyderco experts with oodles of experience and tons of Spydies, not to mention the actual owner of Spyderco? All of whom impressively deal with you with great patience kindly trying to actually help you.
Why fight those who want to help you? Why always stubbornly turn away from logic? Why not just get a Dragonfly2 and start over? :)

I'd like to see a poll of just the members' Spyderco purchases with these average price ranges:
Under $100
$100.00-149.99
$150-$199.99
$200-$249.99
$250-$299.99
$300+

I've gone to great lengths trying to tell you, but I'm done beating that dead horse. Nothing we've talked about here had anything to do with Chinese counterfeits or customer satisfaction so you're wandering off on another tangent there. I'm merely trying to explain to you that your opinion of quality is not the same as the rest of the knife buying world. Most times I wouldn't waste a key stroke typing out a reply to tell someone that what they like is wrong, but you did and continue to ask for the feedback, you just refuse to agree with any of it so at this point I'm not sure what purpose this thread is serving anymore.

Amen! :)

My only issue with the poll is the increments don't provide very good information, as most of us have pointed out that $100-299 covers pretty much the entire range of medium to high end production knives, so obviously most people on this forum are going to all fall into that one category or the $60-99 range. There aren't many Spyderco products above or below those two spectrums. I think spending $100 on a knife is vastly different than spending $299 on a knife, so my only suggestion is to add a few more steps in that range.
In the end, I think all we've learned from this poll is that we learned pretty much nothing from it.

Go test 204P vs S110V... there's too much jibber jabber on this website and too few blade steel tests.

The price ranges are excellent, you just fail to understand it.
I chose the $100-$300. However, my purchases are on the low end ($200 and below). I really don't see many knives in the $250-$399 range. I'm aware there are some. Plenty that seem to be just at $200 or slightly over. It seems like it skips up to the SNG or Sebenza prices etc. Maybe it's just nothing interests me in me in that range.

Did you click on the Submit vote button? If you didn't your vote didn't get counted.
Wow, amazing how defensive you have become in the face of constructive criticism. I don't think anyone here is attempting to personally assault you, just point out some flaws they see. Clearly you are not open to that. And whether you want to believe it or not, your perception of what steels are better than others is only that. Each steel may have better performance in certain areas, but there is no way to say that overall a certain steel is better in all circumstances for all applications.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

Was the motivational intent of the poll done in order to come up with a basic price range and materials range of knives that you think would best sell and be desired on the world market of knife consumers?
