several fake ones on ebay!!!!!!

A place to list and reference all Spyderco counterfeits, clones, and replicas that are found. Anything that isn't a legitimate Spyderco fits in this area.

I always look to see where its coming from, if its out of the US it automatically gets the boot, this guy is out of Asia, the other one I avoid like the plague is the guy from Russia. Just stupid risky in my book.
Happy to be part of this great forum and group of down to earth spyderco addicts, Thanks Sal and gang.

I'm never too concerned about overseas business. I buy watches from Russia and even have sent them there for warranty service with no problem. Dealers in Asia even rarely rip people off they have a lot of pride usually for their "reputation". However many don't have scruples when it comes to what exactly they are selling legit or fraudulent products. At the end of the day I feel however "few people" no matter where they live or what country they reside, with access to items that normally can make a quick buck don't try.

Me, I have only 2-3 sellers from Evilbay that I buy from. Two from US and one from Canada. It's been that way for years. Waaaay too risky to buy from random sellers.

However I use that quick search to get the cheapest "going rate" first, whenever I'm looking for a new Spydie. Usually my trusted sellers can't beat the cheapest prices, but some 10 usd difference from the cheapest ones is not worth the risk. And being here in the northern Europe, 100 miles from the Polar Circle, shipping costs vary too.

That quy just popped out when doing the search. No sane person would think they will get a real Spyderco at those prices. That's a red flag if any.... even if there seems to be some real pics in the mix.
There is not even any mention of them being clones or chinese made or whatever, seems like all the info is just copy/pasted directly from Spyderco's pages. Quaranteed 100% fake s*it from that seller, I bet.

The weird part to me of US consumers and small businesses is their fear of the global economy. Open a business here and most businesses only focus on customers here. Open a business lets say in Germany you focus on the world as your market. In 2016 I can't see how the artificial boarders man has created limits who we buy from. Not saying that as illegal sellers. Sellers from China are equal to sellers from the US when both are selling fakes. Nobody should support either. If US corporations were fearful of the global economy we would be set back 40 years. Taichung is a great example. Some of their quality rivals the best of the best. But if spyderco technically their customer wasn't their customer I'd not have some of my favorite knives.

I still think replica knives help way more then hurts spyderco. Gives them endless brand recognition that no amount of money can buy. Knowing buyers of fakes will buy the real deal. And ones that don't most wouldn't spend the coin on a better quality product either way. I'm sure spyderco sells a certain extra percentage of knives simply from all the talk and all the fakes available. Brand recognition is key. If I was wrong why is it so many from a spyderco website go to aliexpress and come here to post about fakes they have found. Obviously they weren't looking for legit knives there.

I feel like 90% of the sellers on Amazon only ships within the US... it's like they don't want to earn the extra money.
