High end Tenacious
In my own, humble opinion, I think that the Tenacious is arguably the best knife they ever made. It has amazing F&F for the price point, very respectable specs and size and a solid steel. It has handled every task thrown at it perfectly well.
The tenacious is also my favorite in hand so far. So I was thinking. What if a sprint tenacious was made? A "Golden Tenacious" so to speak. Perhaps a Tenacious, PE, S30, S90 or even s110v, keeping the linerlock and G10, but refine them. Sharper jimping and a Bit thicker blade stock, not much. If this became a reality, I would buy 7 of them.
I do know though, that this would mess with the tenacious main purpose. A budget friendly blade.
I'd like to hear everyone else's opinion and input though! Call my idea whatever you dang well please, I won't be offended, I Promise :D -Jake-

Re: High end Tenacious
I'd buy a Golden made Tenacious with good steel. I'd also be just as happy to see more models following it's edge-to-blade length ratio.

Re: High end Tenacious
I would buy a Tenacious "DeLuxe"!
I can't really see how a sprint run of those would hurt the sales of the plain Jane Tenacious.. I doubt it would be worthwhile to set upp tools for just a Sprint Run of them though..

Re: High end Tenacious
Exactly. Not to mention that Sal just recently commented in the thread about a LH PM2 that Golden is running pretty much at capacity as it is. Taking the time away from production of the existing Golden models to not only produce, but set up for, a Sprint Tenacious might be counter productive.Larry_Mott wrote:I doubt it would be worthwhile to set upp tools for just a Sprint Run of them though..
A high end Tenacious made in Taichung as a regular production model might be a more realistic option. They seem to have the production capacity, and the abiltiy to work with the more exotic US steels. It wouldn't be the first time the "field grade" and "pigeon grade" versions of single model were made in two places simultaneously. No interest in one myself, but this thread is far from the first time this request has come up. It does seem to be a recurring theme.

Definitely a recurring theme, and I would absolutely buy an upgraded Tenacious.

Re: High end Tenacious
I thought I read they were starting to send US made steels to China now, so a Tenacious in BD-1 or possibly S30V is a possibility.

Re: High end Tenacious
I would also be interested in a "Tenacious Deluxe" if it were feasible to make.
I really like the design, but have always hesitated due to the fact that the 8Cr13MoV steel seems like it would be pretty comparable to AUS-8, which I haven't been too impressed with in the past. Not to say the "plain" Tenacious isn't a bargain for the price, but I've just been spoiled by super steels for too long!

Meh. What would be the point in making a more expensive value line folder? Wouldn't it be less of a "value" then?

Re: High end Tenacious
If the tenacious was no longer a value oriented knife, I'd be out. I'd buy another Para before another tenacious. As is, they imho are excellent.
Taichung- interesting but I'd have to stick to my above thoughts. But I sure love me some good Taichungs! My Vallotton and Hungarian Folder are over the top quality! Taichung doesn't get enough attention I think. Every time I show someone a Hungarian or Vallotton that doesn't know anything about knives they fall in love. My golden Para is great but show it to the same people they are like cool knive. Show them my Taichungs they are truely impressed.

it's seeing the ergos and action in a high end sprint run, not a permanent change.TomAiello wrote:Meh. What would be the point in making a more expensive value line folder? Wouldn't it be less of a "value" then?

How about a titanium RIL Tenacious, and I would want better than S30v, so let's say Cruwear??

Somewhat similar to this idea would be the sanrenmu 710 and sebenza.
I end up using my budget 8cr knives much more and I dont have a high end sharpener, if I owned both I would probably always carry the budget one.

Aaaarrrrgh!!!!
I already have too many high end knives that I don't use.
Leave my Tenacious alone. It's my main SE EDC for work.
That's all I need, my SE Tenacious.
And my CE Tenacious. My SE Tenacious and my CE Tenacious. That's all I need.
And a PE Tenacious...

Re: High end Tenacious
Would any of you want a different blade grind on the Tenacious or is it good as it stands? Example: Would a Saber Ground Tenacious be worth it or no?
Re: High end Tenacious
I would rather see Tenacious with some nice carbon tool steel. I do not know what Spyderco thinks about its blue steel experiment but I personally did not get enough. I am not really looking for some expensive "top line knife" from China, no offense! And in general why to want another knife in s30v or VG10, better give me a user folder with D2 for a change!
