Carbon fiber calypso junior
Carbon fiber calypso junior
I was at the blade show talking with the main man himself and he told me that they are making a limited run of calypso juniors in carbon fiber! They had secured a manufacturer of the carbon fiber handles already! I can't wait for this one to come out!

Purely a matter of individual taste on the Carbon Fiber. The way that Spyderco (and Klotzli) finish their CF, it has a glassy sheen on the surface. It is a problem (IMO) because it shows scratches very easily (compared to a matte finish CF) and where it is drilled for screw, pivot and lanyard holes, there is often chipping on the brittle edge of the CF.
I have posted a number of times on this forum and others that Spyderco really should look into a matte or bead blasted finish on the CF.

All this carbon fiber talk inspired me to do a little pitcher-takin' <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

What's wrong with the CF Delica?
I don't like the shiny carbon fibre as I find it looks a little "tacky" - as do the Phillips screws.
The CF is chipped around all the screw holes.
Finally, the steel insert tube of the lanyard hole protrudes on one side and is very rough.
The Delica is one of my favourite knives and a well-made CF version would have been pretty much perfect - unfortunately it was not to be.
Let's hope that the Calypso Jr, another of my favourite designs, gets the finish that it deserves.
I'll pay for it.
See the attached pic .... CF by William Henry and Benchmade.
