Well I gave the 5to my father in law.

I prefer the one.

We still got to try the 3 yet

to make a long story short I won a native 5 from radioactivespyder from his 2500 post give away and just a day or two before that i received a og native from a friend as a gift. Well it got me thinking I should do a review of sorts and compare the two.

these are two knives I have yet to try and I'm excited to give them a good workout. I did have a black serrated native 1 but the plane edge is a total Different knife from it.

Native 1 today.
so far I have done much with it besides open a few snacks and cut down a couple boxes it's done fine at everything so far. I'm not a fan of the clip but besides that it's almost perfect pocket carry.

Image

well have a month for me to decide if I prefer The one or five . Right now I'm leaning towards the one on looks alone.

We'll see.

I truly do hate the clip on the native 1.

It's a big reason I don't own any salts I'd like.

I think it's ugly and it has the tendency to twist around unless you make sure the barrel bolt is tight almost on a daily basis.

A serrated Native has been my primary EDC for just over a year now. I've changed it up once or twice, but the Native always goes back in the pocket. In fact, after this weekend, the Native will be the only EDC Spyderco I have left.

I dislike how high in the pocket either one of them carries and deep carry clips don't mesh wel for me with the native design. Clip design is a big bummer.

Lucky you, two Native ! Enjoy them ! :)
Waiting your future comments about those.

(I only got the Native 5 LW. But I won't say anything, I let you judge :D )

When I see those pics, I wonder why they stop on most of the recent knives to make the countoured edge of the handles ?
:spyder: adds color to your knife addiction :D

You should take a look at the Native III ;)
I think it might be my favorite Native! (that is until I get my hands on a EDC forums one :p)

I should take a look at a 3 I kinda forgot about that one.

Had a sick day, this afternoon so I swaped out my edc for a roadie, micra and a junk led lenzer because it's the right size.

I did cut down a,few boxes though this morning and the five just melted through them

Although I think I prefer the ergos of the old one .

now you got me hunting for a 3 I can't afford.

Made in Japan Native with a wire clip sounds awesome it me right now.

It will blend my delicas, endura, and natives together well.

I might start look for a Ss model as well

What I wanted to carry today Image

What I ended up carrying for a few hours

I need to work on this setup a bit. I hate the light and the lighter sucks but I know I can get by with just this if I have too.

It also needs a Atwood or some small pocket tool
I'm a fool for selling off most of my pocket tools.

I had to do it.

No pry tool sucks . I think I got a cheap little one around here . I got to look

Ps pay no attention to the Spyders on the top of the pic. I they must be laying there eggs. I don't know what them round things are? Spyders eggs I hope.

LoLI think there's more of them behind the walls. I hear em.

Lol :spyder:

I also do everything by smartphone "galaxy 5 active now" so if my pics are not the best.

It takes way better pics outside :)

JA needs a native 3

I like my made in Japan spyders. I really feel like I overlooked the best one. I did think about the ss handled one but it's not nearly as common.

I handled a Native 3 (I think) about 5 years ago, before I bought my first spydie. It had some blade play (side-to-side and up down) and did not feel very solid. Maybe it was the specific knife. The heavily swedged blade did not appeal to me, and the choil was too small for my index finger to be useful. I went ahead and bought a Benchmade that day (which I do not own anymore)... :p

I feel the Native 5 LW fixes all these issues. My only nit pick is that the handles are slightly too blocky, but it's ok for a small light use EDC. I carried one the whole of last week while on holiday.

I like the 5

I've had it in my pocket since this morning.

I just used it to cut a bunch of old work cloths into rags.

She came crazy sharp. It Just melts through denim

I'm still impressed how much better a slicer the native 5 is compared to the one.
