Two questions

#1

Post by KentVaughn »

1. What do you think the average price for a Jester (both black handle and SS) would be? I'm considering buying one, and I found a website that has it for $19.97 and $24.97, respectively. What do you think?

2. Has anyone ever seen a Schrade knife, about 4" open, with a 1.5" blade? It has a wood handle, and a little ring for putting it on a keychain. I bought it from a guy a few years ago, and I've never seen another like it. It's one of the smallest knives I've ever seen. The blade says: Schrade+ U.S.A. LB-1

Thanks1

Hi Kent, and welcome to the forum!

As to the Jesters, I think those prices are pretty good. Even if you went fishing on ebay, you probably couldn't do much better. Just to be safe, try newgraham.com to compare. They're fair and reliable.

I don't have any knowledge of Schrade knives.

BTW, you're right...knifes & drums are where it's at. Maybe In-n-Out Burger too.

Welcome to the forum, Kent!

swede is right -- sounds like you are in the right range for a "street price" on the Jester.

It's hard to do better for a keychain knife. I love the Jester. You get real blade steel and the ergonomics are absolutely amazing for such a small knife. The little nubs on the nose and thumb rest areas of the spine really do work to give you more control when cutting, and it just feels solid and stable, unlike many similar sized knives that I've tried which always feel like they're going to break or slip and close on my fingers. I would honestly pay the full retail price for it if I didn't know I could find one cheaper at a reseller.

I don't have experience with Schrade knives either...Is this their web site?

Here is all I could find on the LB-1 mini-hunter:

1 Category: Collectibles:Knives, Swords & Blades:Folding Knives:Modern (1970 - Now):Factory Manufactured:Other view

1.9945.001.99Excellent Condition Mini Hunters
Muskegon,MI
You are now bidding on a pair of Schrade LB 1 Pen knives.

One is tang stamped "Uncle Henry Schrade + LB 1 U.S.A.". This is in very good condition. The 1 5/8" Schrade + steel, drop point blade has been used but is very attractive. There are only light surface scratches to show it has been used. It appears not to have been sharpened. The stainless steel bolsters have some nicks in the front and the lanyard shackle has a bend but is firmly attached. The hardwood incert handles are free of any chips or cracks and show hardly any wear at all. This is a nice attractive knife which is very solid and tight.

The second is also a LB 1 by Schrade. The tang is stamped "Schrade + U.S.A. LB 1". The blade appears not to have been sharpened at all. The front boslter has one small nick and otherwise the bolsters show only very light carry wear. The hardwood handle incerts are excellent. Free of any chips or cracks and has the original shine on the finish. There is a very tiny scratch on the front handle which is hard to see. This 2 1/4" mini folding hunter is in excellent condition.

I have had a LB1,very well made little knife. It is of higher quality than the adverage Schrade.
Most of the smaller Schrade displays have them.Fairly expensive,29.99 most of the time.

Aloha and welcome KentVaughn!

I think your price question has already been answered, and I too, would check out NGK.

Don't know a thing about Schrade...

BUT, I do know that the Jester is a great lil' knife. I was given a Micarta PE version from my pal the Deacon, but have not the heart to use it. Last night, I was given a free FRN PE Jester by a co-worker of mine. NOW, I can experience what Deacon has been raving about regarding this lil' fellow. It has this strange attribute of a much bigger knife's ergonomics for a small knife...

Anyway, hope ya get one soon! You'll love it...Again, welcome and God Bless!

God will put you over...if you let Him! John 14: 13,14...try it, it WORKS!

I admit to having a limited experience with Schrade knives, but all that I have seen seem poorly built with extremely thin blades. But alas, I haven't seen one like the one you have.

Welcome to the co Forums, Kent! While we're on the subject of Shrades, I haven't seen them release a nice little folder I handled at Blade last year. It was a little liner lock about the size of a Dragonfly, with G-10 handles, a lanyard, and ATS-34 blade. I may have missed it, since I haven't really been looking. RKBA!

Yay, it's here! My shiney new bright green Jester, PE. I love it. It's small enough to lay in my pocket comfortably and yet feels very nice in my hand. I like it.
