Lizard Tales

#1

Post by SouthernCross »

This one is for people to share their experiences with Lizards in the great outdoors.

The following video show footage of a large monitor lizard eating a 3 kilo Carp (an introduced pest species) that I had earlier caught and dispatched.

https://youtu.be/1POoBlfVOm8

This monitor was large enough to eventually swallow the whole Carp.

This, and the other thread, probably ought to be in the Off Topic section.

As to the Monitor lizards, we have those, here, that grow to 10 ft. in length. I was riding my motorcycle one day and came around a sharp turn and there was a 6 foot River Monitor right in the middle of the lane! I went around him, narrowly missing him.
Over here, there are also Forest Monitors. The locals call them Iguanas, but they are not. They are Monitors like the Komodo Dragon. They often get into people's homes and then the chase ensues. Very exciting stuff.

Thanks for the heads up.

Perhaps a moderator could move both?

I live in the south east corner of Australia, in the Central West of the state of NSW.

I've been to Tasmania, what we Aussies at times call the "Apple Isle".

Since what I have already posted about the trip back in 0'7 was on another forum, to avoid problems, I'll send you the links via PT

Deleted a second time to remove uneccessary posts of the same.

I know that some people reckon what they say is worth saying a second time but seriously?

Fun with lizards

#13

Post by Doc Dan »

Lizards can be fun. We have a species of lizard in the deep South that we call chameleon lizards. They really aren't but they do change color. One interesting thing about them is that when you catch them if you wiggle your finger in front of them they will open their mouths and then you can get them to bite down. Well, being the joker I was (am :D ) at 10 or 11 y/o I caught three of them. I got one clamped to each earlobe like earrings and one on my nose. Then I walked into a beauty shop with those things waggling there. I tell you, women were running and screaming every which way. A couple even jumped out of the window. :D

Since I'm a newbie at this forum, I've got to ask did you receive the PT I sent you?

Since I haven't received acknowledgment from you that you got the PT, I wonder if my inexperience with this forum meant that you didn't get the links I sent you?
