OT : The price

#1

Post by AllenETreat »

I think on the eve of this Memorial Day,

we should remember the fallen in wars past

& present.

The U.S.Army of the early 80's had alot of

hold-overs from the Viet Nam era ; many of

these men ( and women, but I hadn't met them ) spoke of something called "the price" - that being their life "paid" in the

line of duty.

Their buddies, close friends & family had

paid "the price", and in many of their opinions, it was far too steep. <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I'm ashamed I left the Army in 1983 - but

I'm comforted in that many of my graduating

class didn't have to pay "the price".

One thing <i>is </i> un-deniable :

<b>"Because of the fate Our comrades have

met, We the living,<i>must never forget" </i> </b>

<b>Remember </b>

Aloha AET and amen to your post!

I am glad that you mentioned the present day soldiers as well as the past. My family has a big role regarding soldiers from Hawaii, and I was very proud of my grandfather who survived two wars and achieved his "scrambled eggs" rank!

Be thankful to those who DID, and please pray for those who are DOING to preserve our country...God bless em ALL!

Sadly, heroes never win their own wars, but others' <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> And they are usually called "casualties of war" <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I did not have to serve, but I do every day. A debt of gratitude and thanks to all the brave Americans who protect what we treasure. Freedom, Liberty, and Hope.

Well lets hope God is watching over them all, especially after the actions of certain idiots that have been broadcast all over the world.
Lets hope the actions of these few morons dont cause the loss of life of those who have only served and protected that which they love.
