A few years ago they increased the minimum barrel length to 105mm I believe. This is actually almost 4.2 inches and since 4 inch barrels are extremely popular in the US many guns had to be adapted to comply. For a pistol it is easy, just make longer barrels and let them stick out a little. The only reason I am really aware of this is because I am a bit of a Ruger nut too. Ay Bearfacedkiller, I'm a big Ruger nut myself...so much so I carry two matching .357 magnum Sp101's on a daily basis.....I must admit I like Rugers better than I do Spydies....That said I have qualified with the both those snubnose revolvers out to 100 yards, keeping all my rounds on a 7" paper plate.....the darn Rugers are so accurate they make me look good!!!!!....Doc:)

I finally got a chance to shoot my 1911 today. I didn't have much time before it got dark, but the gun functioned and shot great.
