What was the original finish on the non tuffram handles? Was it satin or beadblasted or???Am I also to understand that these are more rare than the tuffram versions?

Hi Rycen,

Not a definitive answer, but I have a very old aluminum Police, and the handles are quite bright, shiny and smooth. Not even ground like SS, but more of a buffing-wheel look.

Ryan,

I'm with Swede. Spyderco did the plain aluminum version of the Police knife first ... had problems with the aluminum looking nice over a longer period of time ... They gave it a tuffram coat as a later edition. As to the Civie ... I've never seen a plain aluminum Civvie ....

Rycen,

I attached a pic of both the plain and tuffram coated aluminum police models.

As you can see, the top folder is the uncoated model and has a more silvery looking brushed finish, The uncoated older version also differs from the tuffram in that it does not say "POLICE" on the blade and the rivets are ground flush.

The brushed alum. Civie is extreemly rare I have been looking for one for quite a while now. The Tufram can be found weekly.
